Why I haven’t posted in several weeks 🌎✈️

Soaking up places, family, Hawaii, and photog clients. Each time I think I’ll make a post, something more intriguing than social media comes up! 🌺

Thankful for a rich and meaningful, albeit busy and full, summer. About to start the school year… 📕 I think I will breathe in September!

Post-proposal sunset family photos! ❤️💍

You may remember my last post about the beach proposal I photographed last month, as our oldest and youngest kids helped with Westcott Lighting 💡. The groom-to-be is my good friend’s son. We have known them since meeting in Hawaii when this young man and my oldest daughter were only 1! 👶

Many years of friendship made this proposal and beach night even more special. 🤗 Thank you for inviting us into your momentous evening… Cindy Johnson

She said YES! … in a spot special to him - Hawaii! 💍🏝️

A great honor in early June to capture the proposal and some early engagement pics for my dear friend’s son, who I’ve known since he was one. 👶 He and my oldest daughter were baby-friends in a playgroup last time my husband was stationed in Hawaii.

This location, Ko Olina, remains special to my friend, her now-engaged son, and the rest of the family. So a proposal (and pics) in this spot was appropriate and so sweet. ❤️ The bride-to-be is absolutely lovely, and it was a pleasure getting to know her as well. The best part was hugging my friend of 23 years… who was there also! 🤗

My last post stated that our bookend kids helped with lighting for a special shoot…. This was it. Didn’t our 23- & 11-year olds do wonderfully with Westcott Lighting ? I’m very satisfied with the results we got, working as a whole team to capture these pics. 📷 🌺

After the proposal itself, the groom-to-be’s family arrived on scene, which was all part of the secret plan; we then moved onto a family photo session as the Hawaiian sun set. 🌅 Those pics, soon…

Our book ends, oldest and youngest, working for me! 📷💡

Lighting, logistics, and vibes? 🤙 Leave it to these two. About a month ago, we 3 pulled off a pretty amazing proposal photography situation, with photos I will share later this week. It was so fun working with my own kids again, as they laughed and learned together, and warned me not to trip over more rocks 😂, while the sun set at Ko Olina. 🌅

These two are 11+ years apart and actually spend quite a bit of time together for siblings that far apart in age. I took these pics of them as we waited for the proposal couple to walk down the beach. We pretended to be engaged in a photo shoot of our own, so that the bride-to-be wouldn’t notice we were actually there for her. ❤️ Not sure our incognito strategy totally worked. But it was fun, memorable, and I now have some unique pics of our two….

Blessing to live in this beautiful spot and to do photography at the beach! 🏝️

SUCH a meaningful celebration! 🎉
50 year Vow Renewal with a BEAUTIFUL family! 🥂 💍

It was a true privilege to be invited into this family‘s celebration last month. ❤️ And a bonus that we share faith in Christ… My son (that night’s lighting guy), and I were equally encouraged by the journey this wise and tender couple shared at their Kualoa vow renewal....

Victories, trials, joys, grief, growth, and a loving God at the center. Their smiling, affectionate family of two children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and six gorgeous grandchildren filled the humble event with life-giving, healing smiles and celebratory laughs. Amen! 🙏

I can’t wait to see what’s next for this family. I’m convinced we’ll keep in touch! Oh, the friends I’m honored to make through photography… 🤗

Surprise anniversary photo shoot! ❤️Hubby’s gift to his darling wife. He even picked her dress (and shoes) for the session. ☺️ Isn’t that the sweetest!?

I know this sweet couple well, and their time on Oahu is done.🏝️ … We miss them already! What a privilege to know them.

My helpful husband was my “hired lighting assistant” for the evening, and the four of us laughed & laughed for 45 minutes straight. 😂 . Thankful for memories made together, and for their lasting influence on our children.

14 years later, a family reunion with Oahu! 🏝️

This beautiful lively foursome reached out to ask if I would document their return to Oahu after having moved away in 2012. Yes! ❤️ Mom also sent me two pics they loved from 2012 and asked if we could recreate them. Of course! 📷 How fun. 🤩

See pics 2-5 for our two sets of recreations. Lots of laughs as we attempted to pose and smile just like the kids did when they were 6 and 1. 😁 I love projects like this. Makes my work even more interesting and fun.

Another magical pre-move Kualoa photo night with a sweet, close-knit family. ❤️ Mom and I have fast become friends, and I’m so grateful for the way God has connected us through military, mutual friends, and faith. 🙏 What fun!

Blessed fellowship we get with these people on Sunday mornings & afternoons, on Wednesday evenings during the summer, and daily as we walk along the path of faith. Grateful! ☺️
