If I see one more bride post about guests RSVPing late, or not at all... I’m going to lose it. 👀😅

Not “I’ll do it later.”
Not “I already texted the bride.”
Not “She knows I’m coming.”
The couple isn’t being dramatic—they’re trying to finalize seating charts, meal counts, rentals, and budgets.

And you — yea, you if the RSVP is still sitting on your kitchen counter 3 days before the deadline? 👀 It’s already late. 🙄 You’re rude. Get it together. 😳😒

Every late RSVP creates one more thing for the couple to chase during a season that’s already overwhelming.

Be the guest they don’t have to track down.

Mahalo for coming to my TED Talk.

There are a lot of compliments wedding photographers hear.

“We love our photos.”

“They’re beautiful.”

“You captured everything.”

Those are wonderful to hear.

But believe it or not— the compliments that stay with me the longest are the ones that have nothing to do with the photos.

When a couple tells me they felt cared for…

That they always knew what was happening next…

That they were able to 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘹 and 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 one of the biggest days of their lives…

That’s the experience I hope every couple walks away with.

Beautiful photos and films matter, sure.

But if, years from now, my couples remember how supported they felt…

𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 the legacy I want to leave. 🤍

𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺 𝘣𝘰𝘪𝘭𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮-𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨.

This couple traveled from Idaho to Maui with 25 of their closest family and friends to exchange their vows on the shoreline.

She photographs weddings herself, so she knew just how many moving pieces there would be. Permits. Location rules. Insurance. Respecting the ʻāina (land), and Hawaiian culture. Finding vendors who understand how to do things 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺.

Somewhere along the way, I got to step in and help.

𝘕𝘰𝘵 because it’s in my job description.

Because that’s what you do when someone 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘴 you with something this meaningful.

The photos & films came later.

First came making sure this couple could stand on that shoreline knowing everything had been done with care—for each other, for Hawaiʻi, and for the people who gathered to witness the beginning of their marriage.

These are the moments that remind me this work has never really been about taking pictures.

It’s about 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱.

And sometimes, showing up means carrying a little bit of the weight so someone else can 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵.

Oh hiiiiiiii 👋🏾🤓
I’m LaDonna Takyi Taylor —
a former mental-health pro turned wedding photographer & filmmaker.

I love playing in the garden.
Yes, I’m your crazy plant-lady neighbor.
No, I don’t care — my flowers are beautiful 😇
And even though my husband and I are absolutely, woefully allergic to all of them, I’m still out here tending.

Because gorgeous light fuels my creativity behind the camera…
and natural sunlight fuels the tiny universes growing in my garden.

If you’re new here, welcome.
If you’ve been here, thank you for staying.
Here’s to stories that feel as unforgettable as they look. 🤍

𝑁𝑜𝑏𝑜𝑑𝑦 𝑎𝑠𝑘𝑒𝑑, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝐼'𝑚 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑛𝑦𝑤𝑎𝑦 😏

This is hands down my all-time favorite first look moment.

This groom was simply beside himself. So overwhelmed with emotion that he could hardly make words. 🥹
And honestly… isn’t that what this day is supposed to be about?

Now listen—first looks are still not really my jam 😅
I know, I know. Wedding photographer sacrilege.

One minute I’m talking about how I love the anticipation of waiting until the aisle…
and then the next minute something like THIS happens.

And suddenly I’m thinking:
What if I had convinced them not to do it? 🤔

What if this moment—the tears, the trembling voice, the way he looked at her—𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑑? 😳🫣

That’s why I always give my couples the pros and cons and let them decide what feels right for them.

Because there’s no “correct” way to experience your wedding day.
Only the way that feels most true to you. 🤍

So tell me, lovebird—
are you doing a first look?
Or saving it for the aisle? 👀

𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙙.
But know that it’s just as beautiful when it blooms at sunrise —
When it dips and dances in quiet light,
In soft hues and glow,
Through a glance, a breath, shared laughter,
The way two people settle into each other without even trying.

These are the fly-on-the-wall moments I look for.
Not the performance of it all.
Not perfection, because that’s not real.

But the feeling you’ll want to remember years from now.

Because the photos that matter most
are the ones that still feel like home
when everything else fades
and your hair turns gray.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒗𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄:
𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑰 𝒆𝒏𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒑𝒍𝒆
🤭😅

It’s not just about the petals, the light, or the lens I shoot with.

It’s about the 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈.

That exhale when you 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 — really see yourself — in a photo.

Where your joy is unfiltered, your touch is honest, and the moment feels like it was always yours.

This is the magic I live for.
This is the story I tell.
This is what “home” looks like in my lens.

🎥: BTS magic + one bag of petals + the real MVP standing on a tree stump 😂

Thanks — you’re the G.O.A.T. 🐐
