With the release of the Lilo & Stitch movie, Aulani of course has a new display with Stitch merchandise. (Also a new pin, which I did not take a picture of 😢)

Unrelated but important! Aulani finally has some new desserts and they are delicious. I will post about those later this week.

Today I’m posting a 🎪Carousel of Lost Desserts 🎭. I’ve been going to Aulani religiously since early 2019, so I’ve seen many a dessert come and go at Ulu Cafe. This year they had a new dessert called the Mickey Pumpkin Cream Puff, with a pumpkin pie filling and whole—not crushed—pecans, which sounds delicious but it wasn’t. I gave it a 2/10. I spoke to the staff at Ulu Cafe and told them that while it wasn’t very good, there have been some AMAZING past items. They were interested and asked me to share photos of desserts past to share with chef so MAYBE they can bring them back!

Here are all the photos I could find of Halloween desserts and their rankings:
🎃 Mickey Pumpkin Cupcake 8/10
🎃 Mickey Chocolate Fudge Filled Cupcake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting 12000/10
🎃 Mickey Pumpkin Macaron 6.5/10, Mickey Mini Pumpkin Pie 6/10
🎃 Pumpkin Cream Cheese Coffee Cake 8/10
🎃 Pumpkin-Vanilla Swirl Dole Whip 10/10 (this was a messy, melty dessert though, but every year I hope they bring it back and am sadly disappointed)
🎃 4 different caramel apples: Orange sugar 7/10, Jack 8/10, Minnie Witch and Sorcerer Mickey 8.5/10
🎃 All varieties of Krispy Treats from 2021: All 9/10 with Jack Skellington having the slight edge
🎃 Caramel Apple Oogie Boogie Cupcake-cannot rate, but I imagine it was delicious
🎃 Mickey Sprinkle Sugar Cookie-standard sugar cookie, sadly not as good as the ones at the parks but will suffice 5.5/10
🎃 Minnie Witch Krispy-they had this dessert for three years before abandoning this year. Why?? 9/10
🎃 Minnie Mummy Krispy-probably the best Krispy treat they ever made 10/10
🎃 Mickey Pumpkin Cream Puff-the signature dessert this year, it replaced the unique cupcakes AND Krispy treats, and was NOT worth the cost of losing those other desserts 2/10

That’s it for the years from 2019 to 2024! Do any of you remember any other desserts I may have missed? Or do you disagree with my ratings? You can disagree, but real talk—that fudge cupcake needs to make a return though. Seriously. I was down there every weekend eating one of those.

🍁Autumn at Aulani🍁

It mostly just feels like summer but less hot. It started to rain in Hawaii recently, so that means cooler weather, and soon we’ll be heading into the rainy season (aka winter). Walking, hiking, swimming, and all outdoor activities feel more bearable in Hawaii starting in October. Compared to July through September, it is a cozier month. In this regard, Hawaii is a lot like the mainland. October through December are always my favorite months no matter where I go (except maybe Australia, which I’ve never been to).

Happy birthday to Winnie the Pooh! 🐻

The first Disney plush I ever owned was Winnie the Pooh. I got Pooh Bear, Tigger, and Eeyore. Later, I got a second set and added Piglet. Now I have more plushies than I know what to do with. I collect plush like Pooh Bear collects jars of honey. 🍯

¡Feliz día de los Mu***os! 💀

Everyone is ready for Christmas, and I’m still stuck in Hallowtide over here. One of my fave things about Disneyland during Halloween season is all the decorations and festivities for Dia de Mu***os. The area around Rancho del Zocalo is especially charming at night. Everything feels so cozy, colorful, and magical.

I’m probably going to watch Coco today to put me in the spirit. One last hurrah before Christmas creeps in 😆

Happy National Dole Whip Day!! 🍦

Why oh why isn’t there a Dole Whip emoji?? We’re relegated to a vanilla ice cream cone, and that just isn’t right.

You can get this Moana Dole Whip at Little Opihi’s at Aulani. It’s massive and comes with pineapple chunks on the bottom of the waffle cone. Bring a friend to share it!

💐HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY 💐

My mom went on our honeymoon trip to Disney World in November, and I was so happy to have to have her along. She took me to Disney World in 1989 and in 1996, and 2021 was our first time back in over two decades! If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have the love for Disney—and especially Epcot—I do now (seriously, 1989 Epcot was awesome!).
•
We live on opposite sides of the country now, so I don’t get to see her as much as I used to. So…a special thanks to my mom for all she has given me and done for me for 40 years—for listening to me when I needed a sounding board, for helping me through my low points, and supporting my goals and dreams. I like who I turned out to be, and she played a huge part in who I have become. Thanks for everything, Mom! I love you! 💕

Also, shoutout to my mom for being the only person in this photopass photo who didn’t have horrible lighting on their face. The rest of us were not so lucky. 😆
•

🌙 A DREAM CAN BE A DREAM COME TRUE

🎨 Journey Into Imagination (the original) was one of my favorite rides, and Figment is one of my favorite characters…
•
However, I would not wait in a 6.5 hour line to get a Figment popcorn bucket. No judgment on those who did. I just couldn’t do it myself.
•
I’m really envious of everyone at Festival of the Arts right now though. I wish I could be there. I least I have a picture of this 50th Anniversary statue to look at 😚

Did any of y’all wait in that line at the Pop Eats kiosk?? 🚶🏻🚶🏽‍♂️🚶‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🧑🏻‍🦽🚶🏻🚶🕺🏻👩🏼‍🦯👫🚶🏿‍♂️ If you didn’t, would you have if you could have? Or are you like me and would rather spend that time getting on La Gran Fiesta 20 times in a row? (Or maybe another ride?)
