This line from my new essay feels important.
There is the fear that helps us respond to real danger.
And then there is the fear that protects the image, the role, the old story, the version of ourselves we are afraid to lose.
That second kind of fear can quietly run our lives.
Not because we are weak.
Because something tender in us is trying to stay safe.
My new essay, What Fear Actually Is, will be on Substack.
Stay tune!
