πŸŽ‰ Big news! I'm honored to share that I've been selected as a juried artist for this year's Park Forest Art Fair, presented by the Tall Grass Arts Association β€” celebrating an incredible 70 years as one of the longest-running and most respected juried art fairs in Chicagoland!

Mark your calendars: September 19–20, in Downtown Park Forest on the Village Green. I'll be showing and selling my work alongside a fantastic lineup of artists, with live music, food, and family-friendly activities all weekend.

Being juried into a fair with this kind of history and reputation means a lot to me, and I can't wait to share this milestone year with you. Come say hi, browse the work, and celebrate 70 years of art in the Southland with us! 🎨✨

Chicago doesn't always give you sunshine. Sometimes it gives you fog rolling off the lake, a skyline disappearing into the clouds, and the city going about its morning anyway β€” cyclists, walkers, people living their day on the lakefront path.

Shot near Chicago Avenue on a foggy morning with my Sony A7RV and Sigma 24-70mm β€” my go-to lens for days when I don't know exactly what I'm going to find. Turns out fog makes everything more interesting.

The light was already going golden when I arrived at Thorn Creek trail with my macro lens β€” the kind of evening light that turns an ordinary patch of red clover into something luminous. I had scouted this stretch the day before on a bike ride, both sides of the path overtaken by wildflowers and alive with honeybees. I came back for this.

Shot at f/4.5 to keep the entire bee sharp while still melting the background into that soft green blur. Close enough to see the pollen basket on her leg and the fine hairs catching the last warm light of the day. Macro photography doesn't create beauty β€” it just finally shows you what was already there.

My obsession with bees continues. I recently discovered a spot on a trail that has about a quarter mile of wild flowers on both sides. I have gone back several days in a row just to stalk and shoot these beautiful creatures that keep us alive. BTW, I have to ride 17.5 miles to get there. Worth every pedal/petal. 😁

In this post I wanted to concentrate on the people as they actually prepared or served their food. I wanted to catch the vendors mid action as they went about their business flipping, stirring, scoping, bagging or handing over their food.

The food carts in Bangkok fascinate me to no end. The variety is just so plentiful. Some sell fruits, some sell meats. Some have little grills on them, some have woks. But no matter what is being sold on the cart, or how it is outfitted, one thing is for sure, there is always a hardworking person manning it. Pushing it twice a day to and from their setup spot. I admire the Thai people and their culture very much.

We went to the Millennium Park Art Fest yesterday and ran across this awesome photographer Enrique and his wife. They create these wonderful split photo combinations of all sorts of household things. We instantly decided to buy these two pieces and hang them over our bar. They came with all the hanging hardware and a template to lay them out correctly. I had them up.in under 15min total. Bravo to Enrique and his wife for producing such beautiful easy to install work. Enrique Chavez

Excited to share that two of my bee/flower macro photographs β€” Bee Feeding and Bee Fleeting β€” have been accepted into the Taste of Summer exhibition at the St. Charles Arts Council ARC Gallery. This is my second juried gallery exhibition of 2026.

If you know me, you know I love bees. These two photographs were always meant to be shown together β€” one captures the intimate moment of a bee feeding, the other the split second it takes flight. Side by side they tell a complete story that neither image could tell alone.

The framing, the paper, the finishes β€” I couldn't be happier with how these pieces came out and I think you will feel it as well when you see them in person.

On display July 8 – August 30 at the ARC Gallery, 121 N. 2nd Street, Suite H, St. Charles, IL. Gallery hours 11am–3pm Thursday–Sunday. Both pieces available for purchase. Details in bio. πŸπŸ“·
