There are two things every person is judged on immediately. Warmth AND competence. Here's why your headshot needs to communicate both.

Come across as too competent without warmth? You feel intimidating or cold.
Come across as warm without competence? You're likable but not credible.

The best headshots balance both.

That means a genuine expression (not a forced smile, not a stiff pose) paired with posture and composition that reads as professional and grounded.

I photographed her mom first. Then she called me after graduating cosmetology school and honestly, it felt like a full circle moment.

She was so sweet. We talked on the phone, built an inspiration board together, and made sure every shot had a purpose before we ever showed up to shoot.

She is young. She is talented. And she already gets something most people take years to learn. Message first, content second.

Sometimes we try to over think what to wear... and this is coming from an overthinker..but let me tell you what will make your life so much easier.... just keep it simple. We don't need to over complicate what we wear we just need to show up comfortable. We don't need to show up overly fancy. Simple clothes, simple colors, and true expressions give you a palette that is really versatile on your websites, social platforms, email signatures, and marketing pieces.

I know neutrals can feel burning, but they are highly practical and really flattering.
