Leaving Yosemite.

I loved experiencing such an iconic national park but Yosemite was not my favorite. It was unbelievable how busy it was in an off part of the season.

The drive out of the park (and into) however, was just amazingly beautiful.

Yosemite National Park // it’s hard not to worry about the state of our National Parks with the current political administration. I always seem to be in a continuous state of planning my next visit out West - I can’t help but worry that some areas I love will never be the same or take decades to recover.

Point Reyes National Seashore // the overall theme of this trip was too much to see in too little time. I desperately wanted to check out this area but Kaitlyn wanted to set up camp.

After driving here from the Redwoods it had already been an exhausting long day of driving. I convinced her to check it out, and I absolutely love how these photos turned out. It was quite the drive and we went down the steepest grade road we had ever seen, 17%.

The drive out of the bay left us a beautiful sunset with the clouds rolling in below us.

In the end, we had to sleep in the car that night at the campsite. Use the bug infested, baby blue, showers(only lights on in the park) with the tokens we had left over from Oregon parks.

Great memories and can’t wait to go back.

Always stop at scenic pull offs //

Rimrock Lake is a man-made reservoir created in 1925 with the construction of Tieton Dam on the Tieton River. The dam was part of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s Yakima Project, designed to provide irrigation water for agricultural lands in the Yakima Valley. Before its creation, the area was a natural valley with the Tieton River running through it.
