After almost 16 years, a chapter is coming to a close.
Tara Ruby Photography will officially close on the last day of this month, and I want to share a few words from the heart.
When I look back at these years, what stands out most is the stories I was trusted to hold. I have photographed everything from tiny newborn fingers to retirement ceremonies, from military homecomings to heartfelt goodbyes, and from hospital NICUs to vast open fields. I have had the honor of documenting breastfeeding journeys, births, losses, and the quiet moments in between. I created an image that went viral and sparked conversations worldwide about motherhood, strength, and support. That moment changed my career forever, and I will always be grateful for what it meant to so many mothers.
I have worked with families who invited me into their most important moments and tenderest memories. Military spouses, service members, veterans, and their children allowed me to stand beside them through deployments, reunions, promotions, and ceremonies. I witnessed history through my lens as it unfolded in living rooms, hospital rooms, parade fields, and on the walls of homes across the world. Every session told a story, and every tale added something meaningful to my life.
Over time, my path has shifted toward something new. My heart is now fully invested in nutrition, holistic wellness, homesteading, and farming. I am finishing my degree in Nutrition, building Pi Farms, stepping deeper into public health, and finding new ways to serve military families and my community. This next chapter feels aligned with the person I am today, even as I carry every lesson and every memory from the last 16 years with me.
Thank you to every family who trusted me to capture your story. Thank you to the mothers who allowed me to document the beauty and strength of breastfeeding. Thank you to the military families who welcomed me into moments filled with pride, fear, hope, and love. Thank you to everyone who shared my work, supported my vision, encouraged me, and helped this journey grow beyond anything I ever imagined.
I am closing this business with gratitude, pride, and a whole heart.
This is not goodbye. It is simply a transition into a new purpose. I will continue serving, creating, and building, just in a different way.
Thank you for 16 unforgettable years and for allowing me to witness so much life and history through my lens.
