A different kind of dudeoir 😍

A few months ago I had the absolute time of my life photographing one of the most unforgettable groups I’ve ever worked with. The Ohio Scottish American Society asked me to create a calendar to help raise funds for their club… and let me tell you, these gentlemen did not come to play.

At first I hesitated because I thought they wanted something a little too risqué for my usual style, but once they explained the vision, I knew I was all in. What they wanted was fun, cheeky, full of personality, and rooted in celebrating a beautiful heritage. And honestly… these photos turned out magical in the most unexpected way.

From kilted Cupid to moon-landing Scotsmen to pumpkin-patch chaos and Christmas mayhem, this calendar has everything you didn’t know you needed. I’m so honored that my art is helping their cause, and yes, I will 100 percent be hanging one in my home!

I put together this little collage so you can get a peek at the year of hilarity waiting inside. I was on my last shoot of this year when we noticed how absolutley beautiful the lake was. The stillness reflected everything like a giant mirror and this is one of my favorite shots! I am so lucky to live in this place and I am so grateful that I was able to see the magic of fall.

OMG!!!!

This is the family that I've been photographing every single year since I believe 2014! That means about 11 years of this! Tell me why the little boys now tower over me!? Tell me why the newborn baby I once knew is now a middle schooler? Time doesn't stop for anyone and this particular evening made me realize what a special joy it is to get to know and love my regular families! Mindy and her family are so much more to me than clients, they are my friends. I adore these kids. Laughing with them, watching them grow up, it actually hurts my heart a little bit but in a really beautiful kind of way!

There are some moments that feel like chapters turning right before your eyes. Tonight, my oldest took his sweet girlfriend to homecoming, and I had the absolute joy of capturing a little piece of their story.

First my mother in law, a very special woman in our lives brought over the corsage and boutonnière for them. She also surprised me and Jacks girlfriend's mom with a beautiful little vase of flowers that matched their set. It made me feel so loved and it was such a beautiful gesture. Something I will be preserving.

My incredible husband helped Jack get dressed, tie his tye, and made sure he was comfortable. I helped him with his hair, then pinning his boutonnière nearly brought me to tears. It’s such a simple act, but as a mom, it just made me feel every moment of the phrase "Time is a thief." I could only see my baby boy.

I drove Jack to Evolets house and got to see his reaction at her gorgeous dress! They got into the car along with my friend (Evolets mom) and we started with golden-hour photos at a local park, the kind where the light is just magic! Her mom and I got to take them out for a special dinner afterward, smiling the whole way!

These are the moments I love to freeze in time. The moments that really make you stop and gasp because of how much is different yet the same. I am grateful for the incredible relationship I have with my son. I am so amazed at the man he's becoming and getting to be a part of his journey! I love his sweet girlfriend and her family! Getting to be there not just as a photographer, but as his mom was truly unforgettable.

The most magical, fairytale shoot for my beautiful girl!13 is such a powerful age, and I’m beyond grateful she not only chose this year’s outfit and theme, but also poured her heart into the creative process. From her suggestions to the way she carried this story, she truly brought this vision to life. I couldn’t be prouder of the kind, creative, and amazing young woman she’s becoming. I hope these images capture the same wonder and beauty we felt creating them! Another year, another tradition, another beautiful memory made!

As most of you know, I do a birthday photoshoot every single year for my daughter from the day she came home from the hospital. This year was especially emotional because she is turning 13 tomorrow. I was so greatful that she wanted to wear elf ears, a renaissance style cloak, and actually played like she was in a fairy tale. My baby doesn't wear dresses hardly ever anymore but for this she did. When she started twirling for a photo, I lost it because she is known for those twirls and I didn't think she would do them anymore.

We had a concept idea together of her looking into a mirror and holding her younger self's hand to let her know it would be ok. We were both sobbing talking about it and this is what we managed to pull off with the last light of the day. She wrote her younger self a letter and i was given permission to share it with the photo. The rest are coming soon, its been sooooo busy but there was no way I couldn't share the most meaningful one. Without further ado Renee's letter to her younger self...a tribute to her childhood.

“Hey younger me, I can’t travel back to the past, but I still carry every memory of what we’ve been through together. As we grow older, things are going to change, and that’s okay. Even if we’ve changed a little on the outside, deep inside we still hold on to everything we know and love. And just because we don’t know what’s ahead doesn’t mean we have to be afraid.”

A few quick announcements!

I rarely shoot professionally these days! I still love it with all of my heart but I struggle with finding the motivation to make algorithms work, advertising photography services, and trying to chase down new clients, while trying to run my very small stained glass and suncatcher business. I've never been able to do this full time due physical limitations I have from the army. It seemed selfish to try and get a bunch of followers only to tell them I can't fit them in due to the limited amount of sessions I can actually take on.

I did put some time aside for fall as it seems to be the most popular time for photos! As usual, I am only taking a few sessions to make sure I am not flaring up army injuries and also keeping my commitment to the farmers markets I have! Weekdays are preferable but there are just a few weekend slots for those who can't do weekdays!

That's it for weekends. I will have sportatic week days but if you'd like to book, do not wait! I usually sell out of fall spots and I don't have much wiggle room this year.

Peep the beautiful wedding reception photo I shot for family friends! The lighting was dreamy and the couple so breathtaking! Theres something about running off into the sunset that makes my heart so happy!

Just a few of my own personal family photos that we did in the Bonneville Salt Flats! It was such a beautiful and magical place, otherworldly. I can not even explain how big and vast it was, it just felt and sounded different out there! I am so grateful to have been able to do this with my family!

I can’t stress enough how important it is to document your life, to step out into the frame so you can pass down precious memories to your children and grandchildren! We had a blast with these!

There’s something so incredibly special about young love. That first real connection where someone sees you for exactly who you are and chooses to stay.

My son Jack has always walked his own path. He’s felt different for most of his life, but now he’s found someone who doesn’t just understand him, she adores him just as he is.

Watching the light in his eyes, hearing laughter that’s deeper and happier than I’ve ever heard before, and seeing these effortless genuine smiles has been magic.

When your child gets their first girlfriend, it’s a little scary as a parent. You hope they’ll be treated with kindness. You hope the person they let into their world will really see them. And you hope it won’t change who they are at their core.

But watching these two together has been nothing short of beautiful. She’s kind, thoughtful, respectful, and fits so naturally into our little family. Her and Jack play with Atlas, include Renee with video games, and they even help us in the kitchen!

I couldn’t have hoped for a sweeter beginning to this chapter of his life.
