Family photos can sound like a great idea… until you remember you’re also bringing the kids. 😂

Someone missed a nap. Someone doesn’t want to wear what you packed. The wind is doing whatever it wants. Your toddler suddenly decides running directly toward the ocean is their only life goal.

We know.

And none of that means you’re not going to get beautiful photos.

You don’t have to show up with perfectly coordinated kids who are ready to smile on command. Just bring your people and let us take it from there.

We’ll play, explore, chase kids, give everyone a minute when they need it, and somehow in the middle of all of that… we’ll get the good stuff.

If you’re bringing the whole crew to Hawaii for the holidays, here’s your little reminder to **get in the picture too.**

Because somehow Mom ends up with 200 photos of everyone else, Dad has a handful of blurry selfies, and the kids have approximately 47 pictures of their feet. 😂

You don’t need a perfectly behaved toddler or everyone smiling at the camera. We’ll let the kids play, explore and be themselves while we capture all the little moments in between.

And if you’re lucky enough to have grandparents, cousins, or your whole family together for the trip, even better. Those are the photos you’ll be so glad you took.

So go enjoy the beach, eat the shave ice, chase the kids around and make the memories.

Just **make sure you’re in some of them.**

He had one very important thing on his mind during family photos…

**PLAYING. 😂**

And honestly? We were totally on board.

Instead of trying to convince him to stop playing and smile for the camera, we grabbed his favorite construction toy and let him do his thing. Before long, we were all building sand castles, digging holes, and having way more fun than we probably would have if we'd tried to keep him sitting still.

And that's one of my favorite things about photographing little kids — sometimes the best photos happen when we stop asking them to cooperate and start playing *with* them.

Mom and Dad get to relax, little one gets to have fun, and I get to capture the smiles and personalities that make this season of life so special.

So if you're worried your toddler won't "behave" for family photos... please don't.

Bring the toy. Bring the energy. Bring the wild little personality.

There’s something pretty special about getting the whole family together in Hawaii. The grandparents who don't get to see the grandkids nearly enough, siblings who are scattered across different states, cousins who haven't seen each other in forever... and suddenly everyone is on vacation together.

Of course you want the big group photo. But when you have that many people together, I don't want your entire session to be spent trying to organize everyone into one picture.

We keep things moving so we can capture all the different relationships that make your family yours. The whole crew, the grandparents with their grandkids, siblings, cousins, individual families, and all those little candid moments that happen in between.
And if there are 7 kids running in completely different directions? 😂 That's okay. We've got plenty of experience with that too.

Our goal is for you to walk away with beautiful photos without feeling like your family just completed a two-hour photography assignment.

Okay, this is your sign to get married in Hawaii. 🌺

Can we all agree that dads give the best twirls?

This sweet girl was having the time of her life spinning around with her dad, and honestly I don't think either of them stopped smiling the entire time.

One of my favorite things about photographing families is watching kids completely forget they're having photos taken. They're not thinking about the camera. They're thinking about getting one more twirl, one more piggyback ride, one more splash in the ocean before it's time to go home.Those are always the moments that end up meaning the most.

One thing nobody tells you about parenting is how quickly your kids stop being “little” in the tiny everyday ways.

One day they all fit perfectly in your arms and pile onto mom and dad without a second thought… and then somehow those moments slowly become more rare.

That’s honestly one of the biggest reasons I believe so deeply in taking the photos.Not for Instagram, not for holiday cards,but for the future version of you that’s going to miss THIS. The gap-toothed smiles, the chaos,the way they all still want to be close to you.

When I photographed this sweet family on the Big Island, I kept thinking how lucky these girls will feel years from now looking back at photos where everyone is laughing and connected and fully in the moment together.That’s the kind of gallery I always want to give families.

One of my favorite things about photographing families with older kids is seeing that the laughter never really changes.

Sure, they may be taller than mom now, headed off to college, borrowing the car, and pretending they’re too cool for photos at first… but give it five minutes and suddenly everyone’s cracking up again like no time passed at all.

The little kid versions of them are still in there — just taller, louder, and somehow even more fun. And honestly? These sessions always end up being some of my favorites.
