Stepped back into my photography roots today ✨

Did you know I got into photography through shooting my husband and his friends riding motocross? Probably not. It’s been a minute since those days.

Finally getting deep into the last wedding gallery… maybe once I’m done, I’ll finally have some time to post from all the sessions I did last year!!

As you probably noticed, I haven’t posted much and it probably lost me a spot in the algorithm. Oh well…

If you know anything about my health journey, you’ll understand that I deliberately EASED myself back into work last year. At least until end of September and most of October where I slammed myself with ALLLLLL the sessions! An entire month of weddings every weekend with sprinkled in family and senior sessions where I could fit them without completely highjacking my nervous system back into overdrive.

SHOUT OUT to all you full time wedding photographers! You the real MVP.

However, I did go into survival mode as far as business was concerned. Editing every chance I could- just like any photographer after busy season, but then set the boundary for the holidays to allow myself the space and capacity to be present there. But my posting suffered.

Sneak peeks? Stories or private sends only. Honestly did not have the time for social media posting and thinking of creative captions.

So here’s a POST! YAY!

I’m sure by the time I finish this gallery I’ll be shifting over to planning mommy and me sessions- yay spring!

But also, why is time moving so fast!?

Photographer friends:

Do you edit in display p3 or the srgb color space?? I’m having the toughest time getting my images t look the same as they do in Lightroom once exported and especially once uploaded to pixieset.

The inconsistency drives me insane!! What am I missing? This never use to be an issue for me.

Swipe for the before ——>>

I’m not much of a “golden hour” shooter. Not really a twilight or blue hour shooter either. I always try to catch that right in between and cloudy/overcast days are my fave!

We didn’t get much of a sunset during this session and even though the blue light made me nervous I continued shooting. Even when I got home, I was like “I don’t know what I’m gonna do with all those blue photos. Should I have changed something in camera? Black and white? I love black and whites so it wouldn’t be weird.”

But I decided to play around a bit and amazed myself! Which may seem silly to some, considering I have been in the business for 10 years but over those years I’ve been a big believer in work smarter, not harder. My days of “I can edit that out after” are far and few in between.

Those cups in the background? Move them. Those bags, if we could hide them. Lighting is everything, let’s shift this way. The more I can do in the moment and in camera means quicker editing and workflow and a quicker return window for you to get your gallery back.

I’d be lying if I said in my head I wasn’t saying, “what are we doing Sarah? These are so dark and so blue!” 😬

But voila! Magic. And not Ai magic. I did this myself by putting in minor adjustments and tweaking over and over again. Could it still use a few tweaks? Probably. And I’ll work on that before final delivery. But for now I’m pretty proud👌🏼
(and thankful for syncing to the rest of the blue images to make my workflow easier 😅)

This Saturday, after a long day capturing fun at the golf course, I finally got to meet this little man ✨

He did sooo good and so did big sis!!

I’ve been working with this family since they were pregnant with Miss Kennedy who’s now 7 🥹

Such an honor to document their growth every year!!

That time of year 🍂 Spots are super limited.

Keep an eye out for fall minis as well, since my weekends are pretty much all booked for the rest of September and the first 3 of October 🥲

*note this is NOT a link for senior sessions*

Family, Kiddos, Maternity, Couples, Engagement. Guiding prompts make these sessions fun, comfortable and sometimes a little bit crazy; but I promise in the best way!! My goal is to capture the connection you have with one another and take the pressure off being so perfectly posed. I mean we will get...
