⚔️To find your love in every lifetime⚔️

What a gift, to be loved. To be held by someone who wants to deeply understand you, seeks clarity in conflict, offers softness, and lets you grow freely. What a gift, to rest in the arms of someone who reaches for you and lifts you up with them.

This cake is very special to me. It came through as a request for a tasting box followed by a request for a cancellation- the couple were traveling from out of town and couldn’t make pick up. I was, in that moment, too broke to let go of the sale, so I offered to deliver it to their hotel room. A few rounds of phone tag, no wedding date, and no idea what they even wanted from their cake beyond a flavor profile, I let it go as a missed opportunity.

And just before the wedding they reached back out, and rather than make everyone jump through more hoops I collected as much information as I could to put together numbers. And we had a problem- I had a tattoo booked on their wedding date, and two other weddings that weekend. But I quoted anyway, knowing how challenging that would make the two weeks around it. I still said yes, they accepted the quote, and I am so grateful for that decision.

This couple was very clear about the details of their cake that mattered, a hexagon, dark piping up one corner of the cake, white florals. I asked if they had any specifics in kind for the style of piping, and they left that up to me. At the time that I took the order- I’d imagined something more ornamental, or geometric. Maybe art deco inspired.

But sitting at the table to begin finishing the cake, after hours and hours of painstakingly building and masking to get the base shapes- I realized I was running out of time. I was tired. I had a vague plan and no template cut. But I also had freedom.

In that moment, I made a really important decision. I decided to trust myself as an artist. To trust my own aesthetic, and to create a piece that I loved. That referenced my own work. That leaned on techniques I am deeply familiar with, and to create from my heart.

It is one of my favorite pieces ever.

🗡️A rose by any other name…🗡️

Tea Rose Dagger Cake for the loveliest couple. Always exploring new ways to customize these beauties so they match the vibe of the event and the couple they’re made for. I walked into the tent at The Belle and was SO excited to see the gorgeous decor matched this little 6” heart perfectly.

I do love a cutting cake. Have your moment, without the stress of breaking down an entire tiered cake for the entire party. Win win!

Three tier delicate vintage wedding cake- more classical piping than the big fluffy trendy styles. Smaller tips, more negative space, restraint.

Photos from the venue soon!
Y’all it’s actually genuinely tough for me sometimes to pull back- I think it’d be really fun to do a whole cake like the bottom tier here. Still delicate, but moooooore!! 😂

Cake number two from my first wedding weekend of the season. I’ll share more with the venue shots- I think this cake really shines on location. ❤️❤️

🗡️I’ve completely ruined cakes for myself-
by which I mean, I keep making them, standing back and then thinking to myself ‘honestly a dagger *would* make this cooler….’

Luckily for me a bunch of my couples this year seem to agree with that thought and I’ve got a lot of gorgeous designs on the calendar…. That I get to stick daggers into.😈

🗡️ARE YOU sick of them yet? Cause my friends, I don’t care if you are; I have ascended and I am sticking swords into everything and anyone who looks at me sideways. Just kidding they’re not sharpened- it would be a LOT of effort to stick a person with one of these.

Don’t do that.
Only stick swords into cakes.
Not people.
Not even the ones who try to haggle with you on pricing. Can’t stick swords in them, either.

✨✨✨Crediting our OG Dagger Cake Designer .s.cakery for the idea that genuinely helped me find my customers, which has in turn grown my business and my socials, and honestly just helped me fall back in love with this business.

💧🌿July 2024🌿💧

The first year of working weddings after getting divorced was an incredibly challenging one for me as both a business owner and an artist. The split was so sudden, and I was facing so much financial uncertainty with the house/bakery and my life. It was hard to show up that year, to want to grow into this industry and market for weddings when I was so sad and lonely and angry and afraid.

My business did grow, as did I, eventually. But there was a lot of floundering. A big fat pause while my focus was more centered on trying to navigate my emotional landscape and take on the full responsibilities of house and home as a single parent. I spent a lot more time at the gym, too.

I had just started to truly invest time into building this page a few months before everything fell apart, and I used my stories here to share more of my personal experience than was probably wise. It was cathartic, and in part an intentional tactic to deepen the parasocial bonds of my audience. I needed people to see me. I needed this business to succeed while I was figuring out how to survive, even though I wasn’t able to give it everything. Sharing my life during that time told a deeply personal story, and the people that watched became a lifeline of support in a time when I truly had no one.

It’s two years, this week, since the day of the split. Two years of remaking myself and my life and this business to become the person who I needed to be to carry all of it. And I am so proud of myself for what I have created and who I have become. I am so proud of Cascadia Kitchen for everything it represents.

Such a joy collaborating with for Spring Veil & Vows this year. Emili envisioned such a spectacular table, and did an amazing job planning a huge event. Fifty vendors participated, split into groups that each collaborated to bring a different piece of the theme together. We worked on The Queen’s Castle, and the final result was incredible.

It was a pleasure to get to meet a few of my couples in person, and I had a couple followers decide to come by as well. We do these shows twice a year, and I am so insanely proud of everyone for showing up and showing out last weekend.

Thank you to for hosting!
& for planning

🍓Something a little different…

Despite the popularity of the vintage and dagger cakes- I do actually enjoy working on a much wider range of cake designs. It was such a nice change to make something *different* last week. No piping, just gumpaste blossoms and summery vibes. More of these requests, my friends, if you will.

My creative brain is begging y’all to keep challenging me with new ways to bring your ideas to life. ✨
