I’m looking for a bride who would love an excuse to slip back into her wedding dress one more time.

I’m dreaming of beautiful historic architecture, dramatic composition, elegant details, and photographs that feel like they belong in a bridal magazine.

I’m currently exploring locations in Jacksonville’s historic Riverside area, and I’m excited to see how this vision comes together!

I love photographing at Cottonwood Ranch. The sunset light on this side of the barn is so warm and golden. It’s always nice to step away for a few minutes and capture these more intimate moments of just the two of them—taking a little break from the wedding day and soaking it all in. 🤍

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about why photography means so much to me.

And I think the older I get, the more I understand.

I’ve lived through so many different seasons of life. I’ve experienced love, motherhood, heartbreak, pregnancy loss, and the kind of grief that changes you forever.

I’ve said goodbye to family members and dear friends. I’ve watched my children grow, knowing I’ll never get those little versions of them back.

And through all of it, I’ve learned something.

Nothing stays the same.

The way your toddler laughs today might be different tomorrow. The way your child reaches for your hand, the little expressions they make, the way someone you love looks at you when they don’t even realize you’re watching.

Those moments are already becoming memories.

Years ago, after my grandparents passed away, I went back to their home. Everyone had already gone through the house, and I was there alone, saying my own quiet goodbye.

I picked up my camera and photographed the rooms.

The kitchen. The furniture. Two empty chairs where my grandparents had always sat.

To someone else, they were just ordinary photographs of an old house.

But to me, they were everything.

I also photographed my grandmother’s home in Indiana before it was sold. The same kitchen sink where she’d bathed me as a little girl. The same table where I’d sat throughout my childhood. The same furniture that never seemed to change, even when everything else in my life did.

That house was the one constant in a childhood filled with moving and change. No matter how much time passed, walking through that door always felt like coming home.

I didn’t realize at the time just how grateful I would become for those photographs.

And maybe that’s why, when I’m behind my camera today, I’m not always looking for the perfect smile or the perfectly posed photograph.

I’m looking for the little things.

The connection. The laughter. The way you hold each other. The moments that might not seem important right now but could mean absolutely everything someday.

Because I know what it’s like to wish you could walk into a familiar room one more time. To hear someone’s laugh again. To smell the familiar scent of a home that no longer exists as you remember it. To have just one more ordinary afternoon with someone you love.

One day, the ordinary moments are the ones we’ll wish we could have back.

And I think that’s why I love what I do so much.

It’s never been just about taking pretty pictures.

It’s about preserving a little piece of life before it changes.

And if there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that we don’t always recognize the moments we’ll miss the most until they’ve become memories.

The dark sky, damp air, wet grass, movement of her dress, and her little boy following behind with an umbrella nearly as big as he is all created an atmosphere I never could have planned. Sometimes the weather we worry might ruin a session is the very thing that gives a photograph its soul. 🤍

We moved this beautiful mama’s session up from Saturday to this evening because we’re expecting much heavier rain from the hurricane bands. She is already 37 weeks, and baby has dropped, so we definitely didn’t want to take the chance of waiting!

The light rain we had tonight was actually beautiful, and I’m really enjoying the mood it brought to her photos—but I certainly can’t photograph in the kind of rain they’re predicting for Saturday.

I photographed her maternity and newborn sessions with her first little boy, and I’m so happy she chose me to capture this next chapter as they welcome their second baby. There is something so special about watching my clients’ families grow. 🤍

I’m also praying for everyone in the hurricane’s path, especially Pensacola—the town I once called home and where I loved being a kid. We aren’t predicted to receive a direct hit here, but Pensacola will always hold a special piece of my heart.

A little rain couldn’t stop us last night at Conner’s A-Maize-Ing Acres! 🍂🎃

Their beautiful covered barn gave us the perfect place to capture this extended family—from the entire group to grandparents with their grandchildren and all the sweet little moments in between. When the rain finally eased up, we even made it into their beautiful new flower field for a few more photographs.

Conner’s A-Maize-Ing Acres is a wonderful, family-run local farm with fall activities for the entire family and so many different places to make—and capture—memories together. I’m always happy to support this sweet family and the love they’ve poured into creating such a special place for our community.

I was so excited to share a few from this sweet in-home newborn session. 🤍

There is something so special about photographing a family in their own space—where everything feels comfortable, personal, and completely their own. The sleepy newborn stretches, the way they fit so perfectly in your arms, and all the love already surrounding them…these are the moments worth remembering.

Well… it only took me about eight years, but I finally started a blog. 😂

And now I completely understand why it took me eight years.

I really thought, How hard can it be? I already have the photos. I know the stories. I have a website.

Apparently, that was adorable of me. 😂

I spent about half my day today just figuring out how to get the dang thing set up on my website. There may have been some arguing with Squarespace involved. But now that I know what I’m doing, the next one should go MUCH faster.

And honestly, I’m really excited about it. Social media gives me a place to share a few favorite images, but there are so many sessions and weddings where I want to share the whole story—the little moments, the location, the people, and all the photographs that never make it into one Facebook or Instagram post.

So after eight years, the Bespoke Southern Photography blog is officially up!

My very first post is Lyndsey & Adam’s sailboat engagement session in Amelia Island, and I couldn’t have picked a better one to start with. ⛵️🤍
