Brian was gone most of last week so I took that opportunity to spend a few days with some very dear, old (er) friends, Gene & Margie Ebben!!! If you don't recognize the name, back in the early 80's they owned Gene's Bar & Bowl on Main Street in Hilbert. The doors to the Village Hearthstone are where we used to enter that great 4-alley bowling facility. Gene & Margie were wonderful proprietors and I bowled there when they owned it!! And amazingly, that was 45 years ago!!! (wow, doesn't seem possible!)

Gene & Margie now live on Crane Lake, near Pickerel. Both are retired and Gene still does odd jobs for people when he can...and maybe he fishes a little bit!!!??🐠🐟🐠🐟 Margie joins him occasionally and thoroughly enjoys retirement and they are both doing well and looking good!!

We ate a little (Gene does a mean fish fry!!), drank a little, fished a little (it was 81 degrees on Monday and we were sweating!!), played Sequence, watched the Brewers win and we talked.....A LOT!!!

It's so good to get together with friends you don't see often and I hope I can plan another visit to Crane Lake next year!!

Sitting in the house today watching the weather outside, I thought about what it was like on Monday...I was up near Pickerel (next story!) and I got to fish but it was 81 degrees as we are out on the lake and we were sweating!!

Yesterday I asked my Sister in Law Bev if she wanted to take a ride to Door County and she accepted my invitation and I am very glad we went!! I do believe the colors are PEAK right now and there were lots of people there on a Wednesday!! It was very enjoyable and there was good conversation, good food and treats, a cross between sunshine and clouds (it couldn't decide!) and GREAT colors!!

I suggest to anyone who is thinking about taking a ride to Door County to do it soon. Here are a few tips, however: depending on if they get rain or not, the leaves could drop soon so don't wait very long. If you decide to go this weekend, you may or may not want to bypass Sister Bay. Fall Fest is there this weekend and there will be a TON of people and traffic will be crazy!! Go to Ephraim and enjoy a meal and ice cream at Wilson's Restaurant and Ice Cream...it is the BEST!! The photo attached is ONE SCOOP of ICE Cream!!!

And if you decide not to make the trip, I will be adding a photo album of my Door County Photos to an album...Fall will not last very long!!!!🍁🍂🌾🍂🍁
