Dinnertime | Michigan, December 28, 2021.
I've been taking it hella slow getting back into a work groove after the holidays. Blogs are sitting in my drafts unpublished, Instagram Reels are not created, a backlog of images still not shared and my marketing plan for 2022 is incomplete. And though I'll be slowly chipping away at my to-do list this week, it has been nice to take this short break and spend time focusing on making crafts, watching movies (rewatched all of the Harry Potter films), and cooking a bunch. Self care, y'all. It's good stuff.
I hope everyone is having a great start to the year so far!.

What a difference a few months makes! I had my first photoshoot with Luke when he was just 1 month old. This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet babe again, right before his 6 month birthday ❤

Holiday traditions. Some may have been passed down for generations, some may have been newly discovered/created. No matter what they are, they always seem to make this festive time of year that much more special.
As for my family, no holiday season would be complete without our obligatory Chinese takeout on Christmas Eve, making a Pelmeni (Russian dumplings) feast on Christmas day, and patiently waiting to open our gifts on New Years while stuffing our faces with red caviar sandwiches and listening to old Russian songs.
This year will be even more wonderful for us because it's my nephew's first holidays. He's a funny and curious little babe and I cannot wait to experience (and document) all of his excitement.

When your kids get older, it's one thing to be able to tell them what your life was like when they were little. It's another thing to be able to show them.
While you surely have countless photos of your little ones doing really cute things, you deserve to be present in these moments/memories with them.
I absolutely adore all the joy I was able to capture during this family's game time.

Most of my documentary family sessions take place indoors (at the family's home), but I love on-location documentary sessions too! We got lucky with the most perfect day for this outing; these gals had an absolute blast playing in the sand and dipping their toes in the lake for one last time before saying goodbye to the warm season.
