A heart in the pines.💚

You never know what kind of shapes and patterns you will see in nature. One of the many reasons I love exploring and documenting it so much.

For a taste of something strange, explore Wild Florida.

Florida is a biodiversity hotspot with over 700 terrestrial animals, 200 freshwater fish species, 1,000 marine fish and thousands of insects that inhabit the state.

It is also home to habitats rarely found anywhere else like longleaf pine forests, scrub, sandhill, and pine rocklands.

Unfortunately, most tourists and new residents don’t know the wild beauty of Florida, which is quickly being erased by development.

Photos Of The Year: Landscape Edition🌴📸

This year I traveled far and wide within Florida. From the sprawling pine forests of Appalachicola to the swamps of the south. This year I really focused on photographing dramatic landscape scenes with weather and light playing a large factor in shaping the photos.

Highlights include my first time on Fisheating Creek, photographing prescribed burns at Archbold Biological Station & Highlands Hammock State Park, my many trips to Myakka River State Park, and the springs of the Nature Coast.

Let me know which photos are your favorite!

Photos Of The Year Wildlife Edition🪶🐾

Got lucky enough to experience some incredible moments with our native Florida wildlife this year.

This year birds (especially raptors) have been my favorite subjects to watch and photograph. I really enjoy hunting for the perfect backgrounds and frames to capture them in that represent the ecosystems they inhabit.

Let me know what shots are your favorite! 📸

Back in November I went on my first expedition to support and capture behind the scenes photos and videos of the trek.🥾

The “Strand to Slough” expedition in Southwest Florida was an otherworldly experience through a gorgeous stretch of the Corridor in one of the most rapidly developing areas in the state.

Next weekend we are opening an exhibit at our gallery featuring many of my photos showing viewers an intimate look into the expedition experience.

Here is a selection of photos that didn’t make the cut that were too good not to share.

If you are in the Tampa Bay Area you should check out the gallery opening Saturday, July 12th in Saint Pete from 5-9pm. We will have a live podcast recording featuring the behind the scenes crew, photo prints for sale, free food & drinks, and a good time sharing stories & raising awareness for the Florida Wildlife Corridor.

If you want more details feel free to message me!

Happy 4th from Wild Florida🇺🇸🦅

Florida has the second largest population of bald eagles in the United States (only behind Alaska).

My favorite Florida bald eagle fact is that the largest recorded bald eagle nest was found in Saint Pete, measuring in at 20 feet deep, 10 feet wide, and weighing in at a whopping 3 tons!!!

They don’t play around when it comes to building nests and they will keep coming back and adding to it year after year.

Photos 1 & 3 are a full grown breeding adult, photo 2 is an almost full grown adult, probably around 3-4.5 years old, and photos 4 & 5 are young juveniles which can totally fool people from a distance into thinking it’s a vulture or a hawk.
