Every year I get the chance to photograph Utah Valley University’s various dance programs and each time it’s one of the highlights of the year for me. This year was no exception. This is a sneak peek of my most recent photo shoot with the UVU Contemporary Dance Ensemble. Amazing dancers and athletes. For the photo geeks I used the Canon R5 with the 24-70 f2.8 RF lens. Three Profoto B1x strobes with a pink gel on one, green light on another with barn door modifier to keep green from going towards camera. One with no modifier pushing into two v-flats from V-flat world to create the white strip and turn the colored gels more pastel. Enjoy.

Recent photo shoot for the UVU Repertory Ballet Ensemble. Always absolutely love working with dancers with their, grace and athleticism it always makes for outstanding photos, also kudos to photo assistants Emily Munoz and Alyssa Bennett for their help. We used five Profoto B1X heads on C-stands, 2 strip boxes with grids, one 5 foot Octaboxes as fill, one gridded zoom reflector, one gridded beauty dish both as key lights bouncing back and forth between the different heads. camera was the Canon R5 with the RF24-70 f2.8 lens strobes were triggered by the profoto connect pro.

Went to the new Barbie movie with my partner Becky and daughter Mariah, her husband Alex and his mom Erin. All I can say is Greta Gerwig is a genius and this movie is really good with a great message. We really enjoyed it a lot.

Here are the two photos that were too horizontal to fit in my kart post. These are from the same recent photo shoot with the UVU Repertory Ballet Ensemble. Sometimes when I take photos I like some in color and sometimes in like the stripped down aesthetic of black & white. I guess it’s just as a matter of personal preference. Each time I photograph dancers I am always in constant awe of their strength and athleticism.

Recent photo shoot with the UVU Repertory Ballet Ensemble. Sometimes when I take photos I like some in color and sometimes in like the stripped down aesthetic of black & white. I guess it’s just as a matter of personal preference. I’m going to follow up with a couple of shots that are more horizontal that wouldn’t fit in this group, so check out both posts.
