This one felt like an experience from start to finish.

Hotel in Detroit → ceremony by the water → and then we got on a yacht and just…left for four hours.

Calm water, perfect weather, dinner, cake, dancing on the top deck like no one was watching…and their first dance under the Ambassador Bridge (still not over that).

But the moment that stuck with me most?

Their half look.

Standing back to back, reading their vows out loud…and somehow saying everything without even looking at each other.

It was quiet, emotional, and felt way more personal than anything staged.

The whole day felt like an experience instead of a checklist, and those are the ones that stay with you.

That’s it. That’s all that stands between this and “just married.”

And if you think they’re calm…they’re not. No one is 😂

This is the phase where timelines are getting real, final details are coming together, and it suddenly hits like oh… this is actually happening.

But here’s the thing most couples don’t expect, this part? It goes fast.

So if you’re in your “one month out” era, here’s your reminder:

Stop second guessing your decisions (you already made good ones)

Build in breathing room on your timeline (future you will thank you)

And actually enjoy this weird, exciting, slightly chaotic season

Because next thing you know, you’re going to be looking back at these photos thinking “wait…how was that already our wedding month?”

These two are about to have the best day, and honestly, I’m just lucky I get to be there for it.

One of the most overlooked engagement session tips? Don’t forget your hands are going to be in the photos.

Holding hands, fixing a jacket, brushing hair back, showing off that ring, those little moments happen constantly during a session. A fresh manicure and clean nails go a long way because your hands naturally become part of the story.

The best engagement photos usually start with something like this: “Okay wait…do that again.”

Running down the sidewalk, jumping on each other’s backs, laughing so hard you forget the camera is there, that’s where the real moments live. Engagement sessions aren’t about perfection. They’re about the way you two naturally interact when you’re just being yourselves.

So if you’re worried about being “photogenic,” don’t be. Bring your personality. That’s the whole point.

Engagement sessions aren’t about standing still and smiling perfectly. They’re about movement, walking, laughing, adjusting your dress, grabbing his hand without thinking. The best photos happen in between, when you forget I’m even there.

You don’t need to “know what to do.” That’s my job. Your job is just to show up together.
