This beautiful Great Egret takes a moment to perform a little preening self-care at Payne's Prairie Preserve, which in turn invited me to slow down and take in the moment.

Water teaches us that progress doesn't always require plowing through. It flows consistently around barriers, finds a new path, and creates something beautiful in the process. True resilience is fluid.

A beautiful reminder of childhood innocence. Capturing this moment took me back to the hours I spent sitting among the branches of the huge apple tree in my backyard, listening to the wind in the leaves, the birds singing, and just daydreaming. I believe the key to happiness is to never lose that sense of wonder.

Singing to the Cosmos...
Under a canopy of a million stars, letting the music carry my intentions out into the universe.

Over centuries, glacial-fed waters of Tokumm Creek carved out the limestone and dolomite to form Marble Canyon. This breathtaking scene is one of many to be explored in Kootenay NP in BC, Canada. There is so much spectacular beauty in this world.

The “Music City Heaven” tunnel is located in the CSX railroad underpass in the Capitol View neighborhood of Nashville. How many of these music legends can you name?

The world in a drop.💧
I love how macro photography captures the hidden little details we usually walk right by. This tiny water drop acts like a natural lens, refracting the purple petals and green stem in reverse. Nature's optics at their finest!

A magnificent display of wild horse herd behavior at Payne’s Prairie early this morning!
We watched these two stallions face off several times, while the other adults from the herd surrounded and shuttled the youngsters to safety.
It’s an interesting testament to the rules of nature that keep familial bonds intact across generations.

For several years I've been on a quest to climb every Florida mainland lighthouse that is open to climbing. I'm proud to say that after my recent visit to Cape Florida I am now only ONE away! Part of the trick is getting there when the lighthouse is open to climbing, and we very narrowly missed this one but for a very kind docent who was willing to grant us leniancy for being a few minutes late! (Look closely and you can see her locking up as I captured this image!)
Cape Florida is truly one of the most beautiful lighthouses in Florida with its very well-maintained white tower and pristine surroundings, lovingly cared for by historians and volunteers dedicated to preserving this very special place. The nearby beachfront once served as a point on the Underground Railroad where freedom-seeking slaves would flee to the Bahamas.

My photo of the beautiful Santa Fe River is "May" in a calendar with images from other local artists! I'm very grateful to be part of something intended to bring awareness to our precious and fragile natural resources. The more people who come to love the wild places, the greater our chances for preserving them.

We wanted to highlight and thank Kimberly Sulger for her photo selected for the month of May in our 2026 District calendar. This photo of the Santa Fe River was taken from the High Springs boat ramp. Thank you, Kimberly, for taking such a great photo!
