My husband has the patience of a saint while I walk around finding my angle, waiting for the right light, and experimenting with camera settings to bring to the viewer both what I saw and what I FELT while in places of extraordinary beauty!
He often takes pictures of me taking pictures. Here's one of his "shot behind the shot" captures, and my image that resulted.

Cape Spear Light -
The lighthouse pictured is the original structure at Cape Spear in Newfoundland, built in 1836. While it was replaced with a more modern tower in 1955 (I've recently posted an image of it), it's lens was moved to the new tower. It proudly shines from this easternmost point in North America, where we were so fortunate to witness the first sunrise.

Cape Spear is the oldest surviving lighthouse in Newfoundland. Built in 1834, it served as a fort in WW2, where American and Canadian troops defended against German U-boat attack. It's still an active aid to navigation, standing high on the rugged coastline at the furthest point east in North America.

It is here that I captured the first light of 9/11/26.

Pissamare Falls along the Coastal Trail in Terra Nova National Forest, Newfoundland.
Interestingly, we’ve come across a number of falls in Newfoundland that have very similar names, including “Pissing Mare Falls”! I’d love to know the origin of this theme. 🤔
Personally, I think this fall looks like an elegant dancing lady, with her flowing gown cast over the pool at the base. What do you think?

The Winding Path...
The boreal forest (aka the "taiga") is the world's largest biome, forming a massive green ring around the high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere in parts of Canada, Russia, Scandanavia, and the US (Alaska), just below the Arctic tundra.
An amazing display of Mother Nature's resilience, this massive crown of evergreens acts as a vital "carbon vault", helping to balance Earth's climate.
For me, spending time in such a place brings renewal, hope, and spiritual connection. I’m fine with not knowing what’s right up around that bend. The mystery is what keeps life invigorating. ❤️🌎🌲

Peggy's Cove is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world, and it's easy to see why! I've spent years dreaming of capturing this iconic landmark in my own way.
Thousands of miles traveled, carefully scouting out my favorite viewpoint, and waiting for darkness to fall so the red beam painted a perfect contrast to a blue sky all paid off. The rapidly moving storm clouds and lingering colors of sunset were the serendipitous elements I couldn't have planned for.
It's an amazing feeling when that shutter clicks, and the dream becomes reality.

This beautiful Great Egret takes a moment to perform a little preening self-care at Payne's Prairie Preserve, which in turn invited me to slow down and take in the moment.

Water teaches us that progress doesn't always require plowing through. It flows consistently around barriers, finds a new path, and creates something beautiful in the process. True resilience is fluid.

A beautiful reminder of childhood innocence. Capturing this moment took me back to the hours I spent sitting among the branches of the huge apple tree in my backyard, listening to the wind in the leaves, the birds singing, and just daydreaming. I believe the key to happiness is to never lose that sense of wonder.
