There is truly no greater compliment than a returning client, but when it’s a dear family friend, it hits a whole different level of special.

I first met her when my oldest was only three. Now my daughter is eight, I’ve added two more babies to my pack, and this beautiful soul is a mother herself. We started this photography journey together with her maternity photos, and getting to step back behind the lens to celebrate her baby girl turning one was everything.

They wanted all the cinematic, "The Notebook" style vibes for this session, which felt so right since Nicholas Sparks calls this exact town home. She is the most perfect mix of both of them, and the joy in these frames feels like something straight out of a storybook 💛

Sun-drenched and wind-blown 🌾

My only goal for this session was to capture how a summer evening actually feels. Someday the kids will be too big to carry across the sand, and the beautiful chaos of these beach days will just be a memory.

That’s why I don't stress about rigid posing or keeping everyone looking straight at the lens. I wanted this entire set to feel soft, nostalgic, and wrapped in that heavy sunset haze. Because twenty years from now, it’s the feeling of this evening you're going to want to remember, not how neat your hair was.

I’ve learned I can’t create from survival mode. I have to create from softness. And this session felt like softness.

I’m always looking for the real moment. The moment people forget the camera is there and just love each other the way they always do.

The quiet hand holds. The almost-laugh. The forehead kiss. The way everything slows down for a second. And then their daughter stepping into it all, even taking her own pictures of them. It’s like she understood this love deserves to be kept.

This is why I do this. I’m not chasing perfection. I’m chasing proof. Proof of the love, the softness, the season you’re in. Something you can hold onto 💛
