Ok so its the end of January, I've been pretty neglectful of my small business, honestly it was just nice to veg out on the couch and doom scroll for a month (kinda, except for the guilt of being unproductive) now I need to start getting excited about spring photo sessions, plan Charlotte's 1st birthday photo shoot, maybe get some last minute Valentine's photos of the kids.

There is a weird thing that happens when you take your finger off the trigger though, self doubt creeps in. You think, am I good enough, have I forgotten how to take photos, will I be able to edit the way I like, will I be able pose people.

I just scrolled through some family sessions I did in the fall and then I felt better. Even if they aren't perfect, the family shines through, the memories made, the smiles and laughter. Also, yeah I am good enough, because I care about quality and providing each client the best I can produce, even if that means taking way longer on a gallery to do face swaps to get that perfect shot, that never really happened.

December 23rd and I have a million things to do to get ready for Christmas. Last minute shopping, present sorting, wrapping, cleaning the house while the kids destroy it again.

But wait, it just dusted a layer of snow, there's no wind for the first day since November and its above 30 degree out. Naturally, I should get outfits ready, pull out the truck, park it on the lawn, pick up the kids early and convince them to do one last Christmas photo. Marshmallows at the ready.

Did I finish cleaning the house? No. Did I make more of a mess looking for those specific tights? Yes. Am I nuts? A little. Was it worth it? Definitely.

To everyone who worked hard to make the holidays special, we made it! Merry Christmas. We know it was chaotic and now everything is a mess again but our children are happy (at least until tomorrow) and memories were made.
