Fast fashion is incredibly detrimental to the environment. It accounts for up to 10% of global carbon emissions, generates millions of tons of textile waste, and pollutes massive amounts of water through toxic dyes and synthetic microplastic shedding.
Because fast fashion garments are made cheaply, they are hard to recycle and often end up shipped to developing countries or left in open dumping grounds (like the Atacama Desert), where they slowly leach chemicals and microplastics into the soil and water.
