Just about 19 weeks pregnant and really starting to feel more rotund..haha.
This pregnancy has given me a run for my money… insatiable hunger from the very beginning. Nausea throughout the first trimester. Crazy fall-asleep-by-7pm fatigue followed by wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-to-scarf-down-walnuts insomnia. Thankfully, I do feel that there have been bursts of energy sprinkled into the past 5 weeks but I usually find that I need to recover the following day after a lot of activity. Grateful to have a flexible schedule and opportunities to rest when I need it. The hunger, though…truly still having to eat every few hours and it’s not just an “I could eat.” hunger... It’s a gnawing, almost painful, sensation in my belly that needs to be addressed immediately. I’ve been trying to concentrate on protein, fiber & fats to satiate but this baby is a lunker with high demands. Generally focused on walking a lot, lifting weights in moderation and staying active on the farm with gardening and keeping the dogs entertained.
We’re deep into the home renovations and it’s exciting to see our design work coming together as the contractors frame up the interior walls. The photography studio is going to be really cool… open, airy and slightly industrial with some interior brick & exposed ductwork. Excited for the creative possibilities to come!!
The flowers are humming along but the drought & high heat this summer have delayed their growth… always learning lessons in humility when it comes to cultivating botanicals in the gardens.
Overall, I’ve been at peace during my pregnancy but there are definitely moments of anxiety & even a renewed grief. Intrusive thoughts are a real thing to confront but I do so with a strong faith. As someone who has gone through such a traumatic loss, my mind still feels like it is in a protective zone, unable to clear the blur of what the realities of motherhood will be like. I just take it one day at a time… what else can I do?
We didn’t find out whether Eden was a girl or boy during pregnancy… we had had our hopes set on discovering this exciting news upon delivery. This time around, I’m antsy to know whether we will have a son or daughter and we'll hopefully be finding out on August 31. Bets are on that it’s a boy, based on the completely different experience this pregnancy has been. Or it will be a girl with a hearty appetite, much like myself! Haha
Can’t believe we’re just about halfway there.
