Honestly it feels a little dumb to talk about how important some 'celebrity' was... but here we are. And if one 'celebrity' literally changed my life, it was Anthony Bourdain.

Discovering No Reservations in 2006, still pretty fresh out of college, shot me down a path of love for food, travel, and adventure. The show wasn't about faked 'yum yum!' shots and contrived tours with bu****it sponsored restaurants. It was true gonzo. "This is what we saw, this is how we felt, this was our experience." His storytelling was about people, their lives and their history. The cuisine was just a narrative vessel. I was his acolyte; the show was my Sunday hour of commitment.

Without Bourdain's influence I probably wouldn't have met my wife, wouldnt have been half the places I've been, or met half the people I know. I'd be an office bum eating well done steaks and rubber chicken.

Forget being a food photographer, or a photographer in general- even taking these photos in May 2009 opened a world of opportunities that's made my whole career possible.

And now we're all left dumbfounded, shocked, and wrecked by yet another su***de. It's like losing a friend. One I've lost touch with in recent years, but still an old friend full of great memories.
RIP Tony. xoxo

has been a huge culinary influence on me for more than 8 years (therefore also an influence on what eats!) Was awesome to be a photographic fly on the wall for him, , and at last night. Just the icing on the cake for a ridiculously good forum season!

The event raised more than $80,000 to send young women in Rwanda to school. That will change a lot of lives!
