“Our guest, David Landis, is the driving force behind Mountaineer Gravel, a regional project connecting cyclists to the backroads, trails, and small towns that make this part of Appalachia such a unique place to explore.

In this episode, David shares how Mountaineer Gravel got its start, why West Virginia’s rugged terrain is perfect for adventure cycling, and what’s ahead with the upcoming Mountaineer Monster — a multi-day bikepacking race that’s part endurance challenge, part love letter to the mountains.

If you’re interested in destination development, sustainable tourism, or just love a good story about community and grit — this one’s worth a listen.”

💥 A massive thank you to every rider who showed up for the 2025 .virginia Grand Depart!

Whether you took on the Mountain, Valley, 400 Loop, or made your own route—you brought the spirit that makes this ride so special. Your grit, flexibility, and sense of adventure define what TransVA is all about. 🙌

We’re beyond grateful for this incredible community of riders, volunteers, and supporters who keep pushing bikepacking forward in Virginia. Your presence, your stories, and your passion help build something bigger than just a ride—you’re shaping a movement.

Despite the detours and construction, you embraced every twist in the road. You rode through the highs and lows, met new friends, and discovered just how strong you really are. That’s what makes bikepacking unforgettable. 💪

We’d love your feedback as we look to improve and grow: [linktree in bio]
