All the photographs below are true stories of the Bhutanese Exodus and life after 1990. I created these images with my imagination and stories of us.
Today, I want to take a moment to reflect on the struggles and challenges that "WE"Bhutanese refugees have faced since the early 1990s with photographs, We the refugees were forced to flee our homes and leave everything behind due to political and social persecution in Bhutan.
For over three decades, Bhutanese refugees have been living in refugee camps in Nepal, with limited access to basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare. We have endured harsh living conditions, including overcrowding, poor sanitation, and inadequate healthcare facilities.
Despite these challenges, we have shown resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity. We have worked hard to maintain our cultural identity and traditions while adapting to their new lives in the camps.
However, the road to resettlement has not been easy for many Bhutanese refugees. It has taken years for some to be resettled in countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and many more, while others remain in the camps, waiting for a solution to their plight.
It's important that we continue to raise awareness of the struggles and challenges faced by Bhutanese refugees and work towards finding a long-term solution to their displacement. Let's show our support and solidarity with the Bhutanese refugee community, and advocate for their rights and well-being.
