I met Miranda at the end of August during an impromptu trip to Gettysburg.

She mentioned she was engaged. I mentioned I was a photographer. We exchanged instagrams because we were going to go hiking together — that was it, that was the whole plan.

And then out of nowhere she was in my messages telling me her photographer had fallen through and she needed someone for her elopement.

It was exactly 13 days away. (My favorite number. The 13th is the date G and I got married on 🥰)

I took that as a sign.

I got them on a vibe check call immediately — but honestly Miranda and I had already hit it off the moment we met. It was like running into a long lost friend. The vibe was just right from the very first conversation. And the second I met Levi I loved him too.

These were our people. I knew it.

Then their day came.

Sunny skies. A golden hour that felt almost unfair. I watched him delicately place a little flower in her hair, gaze at her like she was the only one in existence ... If I didn't know any better I'd think Nicholas Sparks had personally written the script for their wedding day.

She smiled the way people only smile when they forget anyone is watching.

This is why I do this.

Not for the grand venues or the perfectly coordinated details. For the moments that nobody planned. The ones that are tender and unrepeatable and so completely, quietly real that it almost feels like i shouldn't be there with a camera — except that i am, and you get to keep it forever.

That is the whole job. That is everything.

Congratulations you two. I am so glad our paths crossed that day. It was the honor of a lifetime to be your witness🖤

Nine years ago I stood in front of a portfolio review panel, filled with photographers I looked up to, and thought I had it all figured out.

I mean, I've been taking pictures since I was old enough to hold a camera and now? Now, I'm graduating from photography college about to start this great business venture.

Crazily enough, turns out, I didn't have a clue.

I spent years shooting and editing in a style that wasn't mine. Posed. Bright. Formulaic. My clients liked their photos. But I didn't feel them. Something was lacking. Something needed to change.

So I stopped. Completely. For an entire calendar year I took zero sessions. Zero clients. Nothing.

Because I would rather do nothing than keep making work that felt like a lie.

But here's what happens when you have found your soul's work —

It doesn't let you quit.

So I came back. And I unlearned everything. I stopped following the rules I was taught and started following my gut instead. I changed the way I edit. I changed the way I show up for my clients. I changed everything.

And everything changed.

In 2025: My first out of state wedding. A maternity session in NYC where we accidentally met Bradley Whitford. Double booked for the first time ever. Helping couples plan entire weddings in under a month. Becoming someone who photographs love the way love actually feels — dark and tender and real and a little messy and completely worth it.

Nine years. So much unlearning. So much becoming.

If you're a creative who has ever felt like the way you naturally see the world doesn't fit the mold — I see you. Keep going. Your vision is not wrong. It's just yours, babe! You won't be everyone's cup of tea and that's okay (coffee is better anyway😉)
