To finally return to Puerto Rico as an adult was a dream come true.
It’s been 12 years since I was last able to visit and I absorbed so much; the culture, the beauty, the sense of adventure. From canyons to mountains, beaches to cities, Bobby and I did our best to experience as much as we could in just under a week.
I reunited with family that I haven’t seen in over a decade, learned more about the history of the island through centuries of war, discovered petroglyphs left behind by Taino people of the ancient past, practiced yoga in the most tranquil surround by dogs and rainbows, met some fantastic people in the two oldest towns on the island, hiked through the only rainforest managed by the U.S. Forestry Service, and the list goes on.
More than anything, this trip made me feel deeply proud to be Puerto Rican — to see and experience the island in a way that felt personal, real, and long overdue.
It was perfection, but how could it not be? Puerto Rico is an incredible place, shaped by resilient and community-driven people who make it unlike anywhere else. 🇵🇷
P.S. I have tons of photos to share, this is just a handful. Some pics were taken by Bobby, others by me. All of them are edited by ~yours truly~
