Jacob Walter - Photography + Time-lapse

Jacob Walter - Photography + Time-lapse Kansas | Storm Chaser & Landscape Lover | Photography + Time-lapse My work mainly consisted of promotional material and wedding compilations.

Born and raised in a small farm-town in the Kansas heartlands, I originally started my creative passage through cinematography. Over the years, my passions have led me elsewhere, into the realm of stills and time lapses. With a diverse background in cinematography, the appeal of taking stills grew from the idea of telling a complex story with a single frame. The material I draw from includes lands

cape, storm and macro photography. Capturing stills, to me, is a way to preserve the beauty of a wondrous moment and share it with the world. The photo is not taken for myself; rather, it is a view of what I believe others should see.

"Kansas Harvest"
When you look up the definition of the word harvest is comes up with this, "the process or period of gathering in crops." This is an accurate and simple explanation, but, it is much more to the people in our community and the farmers all across this country. To them, it is a lifestyle filled with hard work and long hours, and that comes even before the cutting begins. Wheat provides more nourishment for more people worldwide than any other food and more foods are made from wheat than any other grain. We owe everything to farmers. Next time you get upset because you are stuck behind a combine on the roadway I challenge you to think of the amazing service these men and women are doing for this county, country, and the world.

Special thanks to the Drouhard family for allowing me to come to their field and photograph them this year. I still have a couple of days to shoot and get the shots I want but I had to share this in case I didn't get anything posted before harvest ends.

I am honored that Brock and Traci Traffas would allow me to film their wedding day. They are both amazing people and I wish them the best of luck on their future endeavors.

This is the story of their wedding day.

I was contacted a couple of months ago about some of my time-lapse footage of storms in Kansas. It was an honor to work with the Director of this film, Matthew Wilder, called "Wichita, USA."

When I found out that the documentary covered diversity in Wichita, I was a little confused as to where storms related to that in any way. Matt quickly explained that he was going to use the storms to build tensions in the cutscenes, which made complete sense.

Last night I got to see my footage presented on the big screen at the premiere and it really humbled me on many levels. Just the mere fact that someone wanted to use my work as well as seeing my hard work shown in a beautiful film such as this. I had a blast working with them, and even more, getting to be a part of this project.

The video is linked below. I encourage you to take some time to watch the whole thing. Some of the best cinematography, editing, sound design, and coloring you will see.

Shot over the summer of 2017, "Wichita, USA" examines the unique stories of 20+ Wichitans and presents their lifestyles, struggles, and perspectives. Through…

The Danville Immaculate Conception Catholic Church sits in the small town of Danville, Kansas, where it has been since it was built in 1904. I recently shot a wedding at this location and man was it beautiful.

They may have started at the same place but they sure didn't end at the same place. Kevin Albright took the win in this heat at the Argonia Street Race / Car Show. It was such a beautiful day that I had to get the drone up so I could get over the runway. Be sure to like and share!

Stacked composite of two images to show the takeoff and end of the race.

I have been wanting to do a dramatic edit for a while now and I found a drone photo that would work. This was taken over the summer at the Wellington Lake. I usually don't change much to an image when I am editing but I did do some work on this. I will post a time-lapse of me editing this if you all would like to see the process. You will be able to see what I started with and then the end product.

As always please like and share!

Kansas always has a way of making things unique. Sure there is a sunrise and a sunset everywhere across the world but Kansas shows that a sunrise can be just as beautiful without the different colors and clouds. Like if you agree and be sure to share with your friends.

"A Small Town Fair"
I have always tried to give my followers a new perspective. I knew there was going to be a lot of photos taken at the 2017 Harper County Fair which forced me to be more creative with my coverage. Also, I have always tried to shoot and edit my stills cinematically and unique to me.

The Harper County Fair holds a special place in my heart. The livestock, booths, food, bands, turtle races, tractor pulls, dances, rides, a car show, and of course the grand parade. But, the fair is much more than that. People prepare their best to show and present, they come out to visit, entertain, and catch up with people they haven't seen since last years fair. My first pet dog came from the free animal section at the petting zoo. (My brother brought him home without my parent's permission, haha.) Although as the years pass it seems that some of my best memories are of the past but each year I am so grateful to see our small community come together and fill the streets of the town I call home. I enjoy not being able to walk 15 feet before I get stopped by an old class mate, teacher, neighbor, or an old friend asking what I am doing now. "Hows your dad?" "Do you still live here?" This has become my new favorite memory and I am deeply thankful. What are your favorite memories of the Harper County Fair?

Here is a collection of drone photos I took of the final day of the fair. Please like and share!

Although I was way too close to time-lapse, I still attempted one. Taken at 24mm wide open I could barely get the structure in the frame. Combine all of that and add 50mph winds and constant blowing sand, I was still able to get this short clip. I figured I would post since I haven't shown much love lately to my page. Please like and share!

How big of a shadow do you cast? Taken at 400 feet in south central Kansas. It's amazing how large of a shadow clouds can make. This has been a shot that I have been trying to get for awhile now.
