Black Friday started in Philadelphia in the 1950s, when police used the term to describe the chaos and traffic caused by large crowds of shoppers on the day after Thanksgiving. Retailers initially disliked the negative term, but by the 1980s, they rebranded it to symbolize when their businesses moved from being "in the red" (operating at a loss) to "in the black" (making a profit).
This is the reason for Black Friday. So they didn’t like the reason for how the terms was used. So they said let’s make it mean that we are now profitable. Myself I never liked the reason for its use, they are telling us they need us all black and white to make it. And what do they give us in helping them to make a profit……..nothing! They lower the prices on some things but keep the prices up on the things we really need the same or raise them.
But if we all show them who needs who. The over all prices will come down.
