Here I am entering back into the fray.

For those that didn't see my "bye for now" post, I took a social media break for the month of January.
As the other artists that follow me can probably relate to, it's easy to get sucked into a whirlpool of expectations. What you think clients expect of you, how you compare to other photographers you admire, how much quality you're giving to the people that follow you, how many sessions you hope to book for a given time...the list is endless.
In that whirlpool, it can be easy to lose hold of the tether that holds you fast to what's true, your creative heart, the whole reason you probably started this journey in the first place.
In the month of January, I did my best to stand on that island of my creative heart and look around, see what was there. I also learned a few new things and honed things I've longed to perfect.
As I'm now diving back into the realm of creating for others again, I am doing so with new intention and purpose. New ideas for how to guide you into creating art together that pays spectacular homage to the fleeting moments of your life, your unique story.
As far as this platform goes, I hope to create more meaningful posts and content. What am I doing here anyways, if not genuinely trying to create meaningful content.

Hi Everyone! I'm peeking out my my introvert's cave (even though that's where the best art gets made ☺) to say hello as I end my January break from this platform.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
I will be taking a mental health break from the social media aspect of my business for the month of January. Since it is my quieter season anyway, I thought it was a good time to step back and reflect on any changes I'd like to make in the new year, and also- of course- spend extra time with my family.
Of course, everyone that has sessions with me this month, we will do those as planned. If you'd like to schedule something with me for the spring or even next summer or fall (which I highly recommend by the way- it's almost guaranteed I will fill up for fall especially), I will be available by messenger like always.
I will not be holding Valentine's Day minis, as there was not sufficient interest expressed to make it realistic for me to set them up. Maybe next year.

This was such a beautiful morning with our boys. It was foggy and warm, with the fog slowly being burned off by the sun. We had this park to ourselves, and all the grass and spider webs were covered in glistening dew.

EVALUATING INTEREST POST 💘
Last year I offered two different Valentine's Day minis-
💝Pin-up Studio (casual flirty, not full bo***ir)- simple props and taken in my in-home studio (I've since moved it to a bigger room). A sweet gift idea for your partner!
💝Cherub Minis- for babies or toddlers probably 6months- 2 years. Little wings and amusing Rococo props. Also in my home.
These would happen mid January to give me enough time to get them to everyone before Valentine's day.
I'm not offering either formally yet, but I'll open booking if there's enough interest. So please comment or sent message if you're interested! ✨️

It was warm enough to let the boys wander around without full snow gear. Our land isn't as serene as it might seem, we are close to a busy road, but I hope it's enough to provide a sense of escape and adventure for the boys. I love seeing them run into our back field, my youngest on my eldest's tail, falling over trying to keep up with him.

May the the next couple of days be filled with the light of connection for all of you ✨What are you looking forward to?
I also wanted to say that:
It's part of my job to romanticize the holiday season and search for (or create) moments of magic and wonder. I want to say that it's also so normal to feel blue or disconnected. Although there is much value to this period of darkness, reflection, coziness; in northern climates especially the lack of light and feelings of isolation because of the weather can feel so overwhelming.
I love creating moments of joy for these boys, but I myself always have struggled this time of year. I spent most of the Santa train ride I went on with our family last year quietly crying 😆 And I didn't get any of the "good photos" I hoped to.
We all have our ups and downs. 💛
