The Dam Triathlon begins on the water! 🚣‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️

“Dam Triathlon: The Beginning” is the first video in our three-part series capturing the determination, energy, and incredible scenery surrounding this unique Rough River Lake event.

From the opening kayak race to the transitions that set the rest of the competition in motion, these athletes came ready to leave everything on the course.

🪂🔥 HISTORY WAS MADE AT ROUGH RIVER! 🔥🪂

The 2026 U.S. Paramotor Endurance Championship brought incredible energy, competition, and skill to Rough River Lake State Resort Park this past week.

Hosted by Freedom Flight Academy, the event marked a major moment for the sport as pilots took to the skies over Rough River for endurance, navigation, and precision competition.

From early launches and high-speed passes to long hours in the air and the final awards ceremony, this event showcased just how exciting paramotor competition can be.

The week wrapped up with an awards ceremony attended by Congressman Brett Guthrie, helping recognize the pilots, organizers, volunteers, and supporters who made the championship possible.

A huge congratulations to everyone who competed and to Freedom Flight Academy for bringing an event of this caliber to Southern Kentucky.

Rough River proved once again that it can be a destination for far more than boating and fishing — it can host unique, national-level outdoor events that bring people together and put our area in the spotlight.

🪂🇺🇸 HISTORY WAS MADE OVER ROUGH RIVER THIS WEEK!

For the past week, the skies over Rough River Lake State Resort Park looked a little different as pilots gathered for the 2026 United States Paramotor Endurance Championship — the first official FAI Paramotor Endurance Championship ever held in the United States!

Hosted by Freedom Flight Academy, the event brought competitive paramotor flying to Rough River for several days of demanding endurance, navigation and precision competition. Pilots faced long flying windows, challenging conditions and the kind of strategic decision-making that makes endurance competition such a unique test of both pilot and machine.

The week culminated in an awards ceremony made even more special by the attendance of Congressman Brett Guthrie, helping recognize both the accomplishments of the pilots and the significance of bringing an event of this caliber to our area.

In another tremendous show of sportsmanship, Daniel Jones and James Jensen donated the Moster185 Plus prize engine back to Freedom Flight Academy, helping support the academy's mission and future pilots.

And that mission deserves recognition of its own. Freedom Flight Academy is a veteran-founded nonprofit that provides powered-paragliding training to veterans and civilians, with proceeds helping fund scholarships that allow disabled veterans to receive training, equipment and lodging at little or no cost.

Events like this demonstrate just how much potential Rough River has as a destination for outdoor recreation, aviation, competition and tourism. Having competitors and organizations from the broader paramotor community come together right here in Kentucky is something our entire area can be proud of.

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️ THE DAM TRIATHLON BROUGHT THE HEAT — LITERALLY! 🔥

Yesterday’s Dam Triathlon at Rough River Dam State Park brought out an incredible group of athletes, volunteers, supporters, and spectators.

The turnout was fantastic, and the competitors showed some serious determination. With brutal summer heat hanging over the course, they still powered through the swim, bike, and run and made it to the finish. That deserves a lot of respect. 💪🏅
