Another thing we're told to hide or get rid of is armpit hair. As a photographer one of the first rules I learned was "Never show their armpit, no one wants to see that." And honestly? Screw that rule! This picture is fierce and beautiful and lovely!

Why Intimate Portraits?

Hello, I am Jacob of Lightfox Studios

I am an LGBTQIA+ photographer from the Greater Boston area of Massachusetts. My pronouns are they/them/theirs. I specialize in intimate portraiture, and intimate lifestyle product photography. We are a firmly q***r studio, we value inclusivity and always strive to be antiracist, body positive (or body neutral), gender-affirming, accessible, and open to being corrected. I welcome you to show up exactly as you are, who you are, and we will celebrate you. As an LGBTQ positive photographer, I want to celebrate the parts of you that you love.

I've been asked what kind of photography I do, and it's kind of a tricky answer. So, do I offer "Bo***ir" photography? The answer is yes, but also not exactly. You see, I love creating beautiful intimate portraits with people, but while it takes a lot of the same techniques, I've never really felt like my work was "Bo***ir." That term is usually centered on creating images that are "sexy" according to traditional societal standards, and feels far too traditional to capture the spirit of what I want to achieve.

Inclusive Intimate Portraiture Sessions

It's also not just a creative portrait session, or an artistic portrait session, though I love offering those as well. The photos I want to make with you aren't just meant to be "sexy," though if sexy is part of your goal I would love to help you make that happen! What I want is to work with you to create images that can only exist in a place of pure vulnerability and extreme trust, and convey any number of the wonderful different kinds of intimacy. One of the many wonderful things about the LGBTQ+ community is that we don't always fit into nice neat little boxes or societal norms, and that's something I want to celebrate, instead of working to put you in poses that make you fit into those norms by hiding parts of you that society would rather ignore. (Of course, the whole idea is to make images that *you* are happy with, so we can certainly pose you in ways that don't emphasize parts of you that make you feel dysmorphic or etc.)

Why get a shoot like this?

Maybe the purpose is to document your body, with its scars and lines. Maybe it's to celebrate the body you're in, or to help you appreciate yourself and see yourself the way that you can never quite believe that others see you. Maybe you're wading through grief, or celebrating a change. We won't know until we talk and figure it out together. I want to hear your story, and give you back images that reflect how amazing you are as a person, images that really feel like you.

What is the process like?

First, we'll chat about your goals, your reason for doing this, and the purpose of the images that we'll make together. Once we have that, I can help guide you through the process of visualizing and developing a shoot tailored to you and to your goals. Maybe it's a studio shoot with lights and props and a full set of flowers and seven outfit changes. Maybe it's as simple as getting naked in the woods. Maybe it's a more traditional "bo***ir" setting, in a home or bedroom. Maybe it’s my studio or the outdoor clawfoot tub set that I’ve constructed. The possibilities are endless. Then we'll create a collaborative Pinterest board to set the mood and get ideas. On the day of the shoot we'll take the time we need to in order to make sure you're as absolutely comfortable as you can be before we start. We'll sit down and talk, we'll open up to each other and help you relax. This is all about you, and I'm here to make the experience a special one.
