Pregnant moms, you deserve to be celebrated too this Mother’s Day! You’re growing a whole human, for goodness sakes!
A little more about my gift ideas:
💙 pjs with a lightweight robe so you can bring it along with you to the hospital! A friend gifted me a set like this when I was pregnant and I lived in that robe in the hospital after my son was born! It was perfect for easy skin to skin and nursing. This set is under $20 at BJ’s!
💆‍♀️ a prenatal massage is amazing while your body carries the extra weight of baby. Or just treat yourself to one after baby’s here, if you’re more comfortable.
🍦a sweet treat because of course!
📷 you’ll be talking so many pictures of baby once they’re here and it’s great to get them off your phone! I love chatbooks for their great prices and quality. Plus they’re so easy to use!
💧a new water bottle will come in really handy if you’re planning to breastfeed. Nothing helps keep your supply up like staying hydrated. And if you’re not, you still will love having water nearby when you have a baby fast asleep on you.
💐 flowers are a classic for a reason. They just make you feel special and brighten up a room.
Pregnant moms, there’s still time to let your partner know what you’d like for Mother’s Day!

Photos that capture what life looks like at this exact moment in time 💙
To be about to look back at these moments and remember what everything was like:
The way their snuggles feel.
How tall they are next to their book shelf.
The way they sit and flip through the pages.
How small their little hands are in yours.
Family sessions at home are really something special. Your space. Your memories. Truly yours.
Now booking spring and summer sessions! Let’s chat about what you want to remember about life right now 💙

Got to see these two again yesterday, but this time with their sweet baby girl! I’ve already started digging in to the photos from their special outdoor newborn session and I’m loving them so much!
Did you know I offer a maternity and newborn session bundle? It’s a great way to save a little money and check two things off your to do list!

What’s a word or phrase your kiddo mispronounces in some way that you just love and can’t bring yourself to correct them on?
Henry’s been saying “sawn” instead of “seen” and I just think it’s so cute. He’ll say something like, “I had sawn that before!”

Hi RVA moms! In honor of C-Section Awareness Month, I’m offering 25% off birth photography for C-Sections booked by the end of April. I’ve gotten to capture and witness so many beautiful C-Sections. My favorite are the second time moms who didn’t love their first experience, but get to have a calm, peaceful, redemptive experience this time. It’s an honor to be able to give them photos to look back on and remember such a healing experience. You deserve it 💙

If you’re planning a scheduled C-Section birth, I have a blog post that’ll help give ideas on making it a positive experience at the link in my bio.

And I’d be honored to help you see the beauty of your birth through photography. Visit my website for details and to schedule a free call 💙

Every month these feelings come back around for me.
Not only because I had a C-section myself, but because I have seen so many positive C-section stories.
I know first hand that it can be beautiful and calm and positive.
That while maybe not completely intentional, we’re fear mongering moms and putting them down. Society is adding unnecessary guilt and shame through their words about C-sections.
I was talking to a mom a few weeks ago about photographing her second C-section and I realized how much I want to try to help cancel out the negative implications of C-sections.
I haven’t quite figured out how exactly, but just talking about it and showing the beauty of C-sections through my work is where I’m going to start 💙

The lines can really blur between being clocked in and clocked out as a photographer and stay at home mom, but I love both aspects of my life!
From dropping everything and photographing a birth, to squeezing in ice cream runs at Gelati Celesti and walks with my family, I’m grateful for the life I have and getting to capture your family’s memories along the way 💙
Thank you so much for being here!

Mom Question Monday! If you had unlimited time to start a new hobby (or pick one back up) what would you pick?
For me, I’d like to get back into embroidery. Or maybe weaving. Or maybe watercolor. I like to collect hobbies 😅
Also as a side note, I coincidentally picked a photo of a mom I know who is great at finding time for her hobby for this post.

I was listening to my first ever podcast episode featuring Jonathan Groff (you might know him from Hamilton and Frozen) when this quote hit me so strongly, I listened to it probably a dozen times.
Trying to sink it into my brain. Trying to write down the words to look back on. I knew they were monumental to me. Explaining what I’ve been feeling for so long.
Helping reinforce where I’ve been feeling a shift in myself and my photography. A pull to what drew me to it in the first place.
Stories. Real life. Real moments. Real memories.
It’s what I’ve been wanting more of.
Back to my instincts. Back to what lights me up.
Thanks for being here while I trust myself again.
Let’s capture the magic of your family together.

The best time for your newborn session is when YOU are ready.
That’s the beauty of my more lifestyle, storytelling approach to newborn sessions. We don’t have to catch babies in the 5-14 day window to be sure they’re extra flexible and sleepy. We can wait until you feel adjusted to life with another family member. To when you’re feeling comfortable with the idea of inviting someone over and getting yourself photo ready.
So it’s on your time. I’ll be there ready when you are. Because the must important thing to me, is that you feel comfortable and ready.
We’ll make magic and tell the story of your new baby then 💙

MQM: how did you commemorate baby’s first year?
I love this new idea of having a sweater in a one year old size and taking pictures of baby in it every month to see how they grow!
We had one of the cute blankets we laid Henry on. It’s one of my favorite ways to look back and see how he changed and grew each month.
