To say he filled a role that created a resurrection of the Western Spirit of the Cowboy, is a huge understatement.

Robert Duvall gave us great roles in “The Godfather” series, “Apocalypse Now” & “Tender Mericies” which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor.

This one role in what has been one of the greatest western tv movie/series ever created, Augustus McCrae came alive from the pages of “Lonesome Dove” penned by Larry McMurtry, through the eyes and ears of Duvall.

His connection with an audience and adaptation of characters from simple words on paper, has made what all of us will describe as a never ending journey of emotions and relatable experiences of life.

His role as Augustus in Lonesome Dove will always be my favorite part and how he managed to have a unique look on life. From make biscuits, raising pigs on a cattle trail, to cheating his way into a poke, to his vicious way of dealing justice.

Gus McCrae will always be the kind of guy who lived life like he didn’t have a care in the world. I hope we all can take a page from that character and make our own lives full. Rest easy Mr. Duvall and thanks for the memories. 😊❤️💯

A little over a year ago, I debuted a video I created using my Canon USA R5 camera and the 120fps setting.

The clean, slo-motion feel of cowboy mounted shooting was captured in such a way that it shows how much goes on in just a few seconds of time.

Tomorrow night, the culmination of a long season gets it’s celebratory moment in the sun for the Wild Rice Peacemakers. 🏆💎

The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association clubs all across the United States (and the world) celebrate their annual events with year-end awards and recognition for all the hard work and dedication that gets put into each rider’s career and journey in mounted shooting.

I have been around this group of people for some time now and I truly enjoy photographing this great sport, and the people involved in it. Highlighting what they do for fun or competition is just astounding in my work as a camera man, as it is the competitors who try to achieve their goals each year.

Thanks for letting me be a part of this and I will be in attendance for photos of the event tomorrow night. See you all soon.

The great thing about photography is getting to tell stories about the people you photograph, but also having conversations with them about life.

With the Peterson’s it may seem chaotic but it’s also a symmetry of their life creating memories. Always on go with farming, horses, homeschooling, time with family, etc.
