With the sun out and shining, I took a spirited drive out with the Porsche Cayman to the Lecht/Corgarff, towards the Lecht Ski Centre.

During some runs with my local Porsche group, we'd come this way from Dufftown towards Goodbrand & Ross, and it was an area that I knew i'd want to come back to on my own for photos. And it did not disappoint, stopping and taking in the sights.

On the more technical side, i'm trying out a replacement for Adobe Lightroom called DxO PhotoLab, and having now used it for 2 months now, I think it's safe to say i'll be using this for now on.

I also wanted to experiment with LUTs, which I think helped pop out the colours more without being super overbearing.

- Atlanta Motor Speedway, Georgia -

On the 2nd last day of our holiday, we spent our day at the Atlanta Motor Speedway to watch NASCAR. And man, what an awesome experience. The sounds, the atmosphere, it was soo much fun!

Used the race as an opportunity to capture some more unique shots with different shooting methods, specifically with the shutter speed. Specifically in the 6th picture, I set it to around 1/50 sec., as a way to capture the speed and momentum the cars where going at.

Added some videos to give an idea of the sounds and atmosphere, but trust me, and i'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but the sound of the videos is nothing compared to real life. You NEED ear protection, but if you're in any way a car person or fan of racing, it's absolutely worth checking out if you get a chance.

Anyway, this is the last post surrounding my Washington D.C/Georgia holiday. My last two posts focus on the holiday too, so please check those out if you haven't already. Next holiday is in planning right now, and whilst it'll be two years away, we're looking at going back to The Rockies for a more nature focused holiday.

Can't come any sooner 😭

- Shenandoah National Park, Virginia -

After leaving Washington D.C, we left for Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Bordering the famous Blue Ridge Mountains, the roads going through Shenandoah gives you spectacular views, allowing you to see far into the distance especially on a clear day which we were lucky to have.

Driving into Virginia, we encountered Turkey Vultures, which we met all the way down to Georgia aswell. Pretty gnarly looking birds, one picture even has them looking down at me, maybe thinking i'm a snack. We also encountered these strange insects called Spotted Lanternflies, which we unfortunately learned are an invasive species native to Asia and harm the local area. They were really interesting to look at though, and they had no problem jump on and off you, and you felt it too. We didn't encounter any bears however, as they are native to the area. Maybe one day.

And whilst the park was lovely and stunning, i'll admit I wasn't as impressed with Shenandoah as I was with The Rockies in Colorado. The Rocky Mountains has a variety of unique biomes throughout the park: Evergreens, yellow trees, tundra, taiga, grasslands, mountainous, green, blue, yellow, red, i'm not kidding. So to go from that to Shenandoah, it just left me wanting to see more of the "grandeur" of The Rockies again. But I understand not everywhere can look like that, and that I don't think that makes Shenandoah bad. Just that if you've seen or just come from somewhere like The Rockies, you'll likely be abit disappointed, but still enjoy your stay.

Either way, last post will focus on Georgia, specifically NARCAR at Atlanta Motor Speedway! Will be up in a few days!

- Washington D.C -

Recently went to Washington DC down to Georgia for a holiday.

I will be uploading three separate posts that focus on three distinct locations. First being Washington DC, second will be Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, then finally a NASCAR race which I saw at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Georgia.

This is the Washington DC post, covering much of the nation's famous buildings and monuments, as well as some extra tidbits here and there. It was really an awesome city to visit, very clean and walkable, will absolutely go back again at some point.
