Details -

Though macro photography isn’t my usual focus, I’ve really grown to appreciate the beauty of these smaller subjects. I typically look at the bigger picture, but this year I’m making an effort to slow down and capture these quieter scenes not just as a photographer, but as an observer. With so much going on in the world, sometimes you just need to pause and watch a butterfly or admire the details of a mushroom.

Sunny summer -

Never going to stop talking about how much I love the Maine coast. A few more favorites from the weekend.

The first two shots are from the Ricoh GR III since so many of you asked about it. My favorite thing about it is shooting JPEG with a film recipe and having photos ready to go immediately. It takes all the pressure out of editing when I just want to shoot casually. (I still brought my primary setup with me, but having both options is ideal).

The Majestic Eagles -

Spent yesterday’s 4th of July on the water with friends and my camera, appreciating the raw beauty of this country.

It saddens me that while so many of us love these spaces, others see them as just another spot for a road, building, or data center to make a quick buck. We owe it to our wildlife to protect the habitats that once belonged entirely to them.

I hope we can do better as a country to maintain what we have and prevent further destruction, both here and around the world. Let’s protect our wild spaces.

Schoodic -

The best-kept secret in Acadia? The Schoodic Peninsula.

While the rest of the park gets the crowds, Schoodic gives you the “quiet side” of the park:

* Two offshore lighthouses framing the horizon.
* Endless birding spots and hidden shoreline pockets.
* Practically zero traffic—just pure, uninterrupted nature.

I first fell in love with this place on a family trip when I was just starting out in photography. It felt like a giant playground then, and honestly, it still does. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your itinerary! 📸

So comes the end of another Lupine season. I’m thoroughly impressed with everyone’s photos this year. Makes me excited to explore some new spots next year 🪻

Couple more shots from last weekends foggy madness. It was such a calm peaceful morning, I’ve looked at these images several times since editing them and I’m so proud of them. This was also my first real time using my new camera the A7rV along side my trusty Ricoh GRiiix, for the nerdy photographers following me, this combo is chef’s kisses.

Welp, we were hoping for a sunrise with a foggy glow. Unfortunately the weather decided to just give us fog. I think this scene was beautiful in its own way. Sometimes this is the way she goes here in Maine.

Got up early yesterday to go birding with some great people, then did some back yard birding to see this beautiful pair of Orioles. This year I want to take birding more seriously, so expect more photos 🪶

I sat on this photo for a while, I go back and forth whether I liked it or not. Edited it, re-edited it, and then let it sit in my “to be posted” folder. Welp 8 months later here it is.
