You just never know what you will see floating down a river in your kayak.

I have not been out in the kayak since the 7th, and I am so wanting to go out again, but sadly, the weather is not cooperating.

Will someone tell Mother Nature we need less wind?

Ok, you all remember the last fawn photo I posted where you couldn't see it, right? I hope you can see this little one in this photo.

Please let me know if you can find the fawn, I want to see who can come up with the craziest response to seeing the fawn. 😁

We've had a few storms roll through lately, and of course they always seem to show up when I'm stuck at work! đŸŒŠī¸

I wasn't able to catch the storms themselves, but I did manage to get out afterward and photograph some of the dramatic clouds left behind. Sometimes the backside of a storm can be just as beautiful as the storm itself, with all the textures, colors, and shapes painted across the sky.

What about you? Do you enjoy watching and photographing different cloud formations, or are clouds just something you barely notice?

Yesterday I was coming back from town and stopped at one of the local lakes to take a few storm cloud photos and saw this heron drying its wings in the sun. I immediately said now that was stupid of you to not bring a telephoto lens, as it was the perfect scene. Well then, it dawned on me that I had my big lens in the car, so I quickly switched lenses and turned around to see if I could get a couple of shots of the heron drying its wings. I just pulled over, and a truck drove by the heron right after it caught this bull head. Complete flight sequence achieved and wouldn't you know it, they are all in focus too... :-)

Which shot is your favorite?

Yesterday was an afternoon spent on the water. I am really starting to enjoy being in the kayak and seeing a different perspective on wildlife shots. I got both a muskrat and an otter, which was so much fun. The little otter was eating something, but not sure what, as I couldn't really tell, as it was just under the water line.

I took this Barred Owl photo back in 2020 during my very first visit to the bog. At the time, I had no idea what I was doing with photography. Truth be told, there are still plenty of things I'm learning on this journey.

While looking through some of my older images recently, I decided to revisit this one and give it a fresh edit. The photo on the left is my original edit, and the one on the right is how I see it today. With a few more years of experience behind me, I think this new version better captures the beauty and character of this owl.

It reminded me that growth doesn't happen overnight. Whether it's photography or life, we all start somewhere. The important thing is to keep learning, keep moving forward, and not be afraid to revisit where you've been. The past may hold lessons, memories, and even a few mistakes, but it doesn't have to define where you're headed.

Never stop learning. Never stop growing.

The other night, I went out in my Kayak and saw my first blue heron since I started this kayak adventure. I am excited to see what else I can get using the kayak.

I am already thinking of how to use the kayak this winter to get the eagle shot I have been dreaming of. Can it be done?

Ok, you guys might need to click on the photo to enlarge it, but can you find the fawn in this photo?

I am watching this doe thinking she might have just had a fawn as she kept watching me and then bending her head down into the flowers, but I could not see the fawn for the life of me. She did this several times before I finally saw the wee one's tail. The fawn was maybe a week old at most, but it was standing by her front legs, well hidden. Not to worry, I have a big lens, so while she was deep into the field, I was snuggled in my car on the opposite side of the road from her to give her plenty of space.
