I was once asked at an interview what style of food I cook; my answer, “I go to the market and get inspired, so I am a farm to table chef…”. The interviewer, a well known Michelin rated chef, tweaked her head and replied, “You didn’t answer the question. And if you aren’t doing farm to table… then I don’t know what the f*ck you’re cooking these days…”.
This interaction threw me down a deep rabbit hole of not knowing who I was as a chef. It took years to recover. Through all of the chaos of COVID-19, I thought I’d share with you what style of food we cook at Olmo.
Our style is Comfort. We want you to think of Grandma’s cooking when you take a bite. Our objective is to draw you in with simplicity and blow you away on ex*****on. A great sandwich starts with great bread and great bread is made from great flour. It’s that simple.
Our food is the food you want for dinner tonight, and tomorrow, and the next day for leftovers.
We want to stay open, so our menu will be dropping on average 20% in price at Olmo and we will be launching delivery this Tuesday March 16. The Olmo family has decided they want to continue bringing you joy on a daily basis. When you order Olmo on your phone to be delivered, it will be an Olmo server driving it over to you with an appreciative smile.
Every bag from Olmo will have a gift in it. If we can’t give you the gift of dining in our fun, energetic, clean, at times too noisy, cramped, eclectic atmosphere - then we’ll get that across to you with small tokens of our appreciation for continuing to support us through this unprecedented time.
Just because we are suggested to not come in contact, doesn’t mean we can’t connect. We want you to bite into an Olmo bagel and think about your family and loved ones, as that’s who we’re thinking about when we made it. You should have the joy of our lemon bars on a stressful day, because they are made to make you feel better. We want you to smell the Olmo cast iron pans on your burger while crushing out work from home.
The longer this virus spreads, the more the menu will evolve and grow to suit your needs. Olmo has your back. You asked. We deliver.
From the bottom of my heart, please don’t order corporate take out. Your support will keep afloat, so if you have an idea of what you want to eat - email me at [email protected] - I’ll try and get it on the app and over to you. Download Snackpass on your phone today and check out what we’ve got available.
