Stuey is a very spontaneous person who has chosen a nontraditional career and life path. She is a drone videographer and photographer who has been traveling around the world taking incredible videos and photographs of the many wonderful places she visits. Her specialty is capturing skilled and experienced surfers and the beautiful oceans they surf in. Stuey was in Portugal several years ago on a y
oga retreat and met a drone videographer on one of her group hikes. She was amazed, curious and delighted that he was able to send his drone miles ahead, high above crazy mountain cliffs and capture raw footage, as well as scout out the best hiking routes. So when she returned home, she set out to learn everything she could about operating a drone and acquiring the necessary qualifications to do so. Operating a drone came very naturally to Stuey. She has always loved photography and majored in Studio Art at The College of Charleston, so she definitely has many creative gifts. Living on Folly Beach, a barrier island outside of Charleston has given her instant access to a great surf community where she has been able to build her drone career. She loves giving land lovers such an exciting perspective of the ocean. To legitimize her drone business, Stuey took the federal exam called the FAA part 107 to become a licensed drone pilot. She said it was the hardest exam she has ever taken because she was required to have precise knowledge of military and airport space as well as a deep understanding of physics. Many people do not pass it on their first try, but Stuey did! This certification was a huge milestone in her journey to become a drone operator. She now has a business called "Stueys Drones."
