One of the questions I get asked all the time is, "When should I book my newborn session?"

The answer is almost always... while you're still pregnant. 🤍

I recommend reaching out during your second or third trimester so I can get your due date on my calendar. Babies have a funny way of making their own schedules, so instead of booking a specific day, I reserve your due date and then we finalize your session once your little one arrives.

For those sleepy, squishy, curled up newborn portraits, the sweet spot is usually within the first 5-14 days after birth. During that time, babies tend to sleep more deeply and are much happier settling into those cozy poses everyone loves.

Now, if your baby is already here, please don't panic! It is never too late to reach out.

I've photographed babies well past the two week mark, and they're still absolutely beautiful. We may just adjust our expectations a little. Older babies are typically more alert, stretch out more, and may not settle into those super curled up poses as easily. Wrapped sessions are often a great option for little ones who are a few weeks or even around a month old.

The biggest piece of advice I can give? Don't wait until after delivery to start looking for a photographer. Most newborn photographers only take a limited number of due dates each month so we can leave room for babies to arrive early or late.

📚 Photography 101

I know it’s tempting to screenshot your favorite photo because it’s quick and easy.

But screenshots actually reduce the quality of your images.

When you take a screenshot, you’re saving a smaller, compressed version of your photo. It may look perfectly fine on your phone, but when it’s time to print, you’ll notice softer details, less clarity, and a lower quality image.

That’s why every gallery I deliver includes two versions of your photos.

🤍 Web-sized images are perfect for sharing on social media. They’re smaller files that load quickly and look great on your phone.

🤍 High-resolution images are your forever files. These are the ones you’ll want for prints, canvases, albums, holiday cards, and preserving your memories for years to come.

It might seem like a small difference on your screen, but it makes a huge difference when you print.

Before your gallery expires, I always recommend taking a few minutes to:

✔ Download your high-resolution gallery.
✔ Back it up somewhere safe, like an external hard drive or cloud storage.
✔ Keep your web-sized images on your phone for easy sharing.

I put a lot of care into delivering beautiful, high-quality images because I want them to be enjoyed for generations, not just on your phone screen. 🤍

I’m looking to partner with a talented local baker for my cake smash sessions!

My previous baker is taking a well deserved step back, and I’m so grateful for all of the beautiful cakes she created over the years. ❤️ Now I’m hoping to build a relationship with another amazing local baker who would love to collaborate.

One thing I love about my cake smash experience is making it as stress free as possible for my clients, so I coordinate the smash cake as part of their session. I’m looking for someone who can create simple, beautiful cakes that complement each setup while also understanding that every family has different needs.

Ideally, I’m looking for a baker who:
🤍 Can create custom smash cakes in a variety of themes and colors.
🤍 Is comfortable accommodating common food allergies and dietary restrictions, including gluten free, dairy free, egg free, nut-free options when needed.
🤍 Can offer dye-free or naturally colored cakes for families who request them.
🤍 Uses quality ingredients and communicates clearly about allergens and cross-contamination practices.

Today marks 250 years of America, and whether you’re spending it by the lake, at a backyard cookout, watching fireworks, or simply soaking up time with the people you love, I hope you find a moment to slow down and take it all in. ❤️🤍💙

The little things have a funny way of becoming the memories we treasure most. Sticky popsicle hands, sparklers after sunset, kids running barefoot through the grass, and the laughter that fills a summer evening. Those are the moments worth holding onto.

I’m so grateful I get to preserve memories like these for so many wonderful families, and I hope your Fourth of July is filled with joy, good food, and people you love.
