A friend of mine recently purchased his first two analog cameras and asked if I would develop his film for him.

I feel like I should mention that the cameras he was using hadn't yet been film tested. That's the way these things go. If you're not purchasing your camera from a reputable source then you never know what you're going to end up with. The best solution is to shoot a roll of film in the camera and wee what you got. Sometimes you find out that you got a great camera for cheap, and other times you get results like these.

When I pulled the film out of the soup I immediately knew something was off. the color of the film was way too dark. Looked like it had been fried. However, I should say that there is a liiiiiitttttttllleee bit of an image on that roll. Maybe a shot that was overexposed and left something legible on the film. Could be that the film was cooked and only one exposure came out.

In this case my friend had two cameras to test. The first obviously not working too great. The second seems to be working fine.

EMILLLYYYYY!! it's been so long since I've seen you! I've missed our hang outs. But I'm so happy to hear that you're moving to a better studio space! Hope all is well.

Going to photo walks is partially about taking pictures. It's mostly about talking to one another and hyper each other up on how cool you look with you camera gear. But yeah, sometimes we take pictures.

I've found some of my favorite expired films in these bins. I've made plenty of videos on it in the past. I know that expired film can be a little disheartening but it also has yielded som of the best results for me. I often feel like expired film gives me more of a "film look" than fresh film. there are sometimes when I shoot fresh film that I feel it's a little tooooo clean.

Also, there were some crazy film stocks back in the day. stuff that you'll never find in modern day photography. If you want something random and rare. you have to go through these bins.

I love this story personally. Jeff bridges is an artist. First an actor and then a film photographer. I think a lot of people complain that the price of the camera is too much. But it’s amazing that this project was even able to get off the ground in the first place. I’m not going to ignore the fact that he’s a rich person. He was probably able to afford the RND, materials, testing, and prototyping himself. But the reason that we have such an amazing camera like this is because he decided that his money was best spent on renewing something archaic. And we all benefit from that.

Everybody is talking about the Wideluxx. It’s a huge step for the film photography world. This is the first modern mechanical film camera in a really long time (minus Leica). the Pentax was cool and all, and the Lomography camera was cool too. but both of those felt like little point and shoot cameras. This is the first camera to be manufactured in the modern day, that a professional photographer could add to their toolbox.

I was just talking to some other photographers about making photos books. While I understand that a photobook doesn't have to be filled with the worlds best photos, I do sorts feel like the work that I create doesn't really belong in one. why? because I make a lot of photos that are strickly for posting on social media. I blow through a ton of rolls of film just so that I can share them with the masses.

Don't get me wrong. I love this. I love having a group of people that I can talk to about film photographer. I love basically having nerds ready to nerd out about the nerdiest thing that we can all think of. But I think that form of art is strickly designed for the internet.

I want to make work that is actually moving. Things that people care about. I want to actually immerse myself and others in worlds. I want people to feel the art. I want them to embody it.

But in order to do that... I think that I can't always be posting stuff on the internet.

I think that the Rolleiflex SL66 is my new dream camera. It has a focal plane shutter which makes it a little finicky. But it's an amazing unit of a camera and I want it.
