Some people spend their lives making sure other people are heard.
Olga Lucia Torres is one of those people.
She was one of the eight founding attorneys of The Bronx Defenders. Today, she is a health law attorney, patient advocate and Lecturer in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. Her work has taken her into health advocacy, patient engagement, media representation and the fight to make sure people are listened to and believed.
But when Olga stepped in front of my camera, I wasn’t thinking about her résumé.
I was thinking about her.
Behind all the titles and accomplishments is a woman who has spent an extraordinary amount of her life speaking up for herself and for other people.
My job was simply to see her.
