An open letter to my daughter:
Ana,
You turned 6 years old today and it’s almost painful how much I adore you. After having 3 boys, I truly believed that I’d never have a daughter. God had other plans and they were more perfect than anything I could’ve ever prayed for. Because he gave me you.
Your brothers have been an exceptional and miraculous blessing. And you my girl, are perfect.
In life, people will always try to “teach you” something, humble you, and/or minimize your power in order to feel more comfortable with the brightness of your beautiful light. Don’t let them.
Always remember that you were beautifully made. That you are powerful and wise. Remember that everything is happening FOR you. For your highest and greatest good. Know that if you have to dim your brilliant light around someone, that they are not your people.
Never forget the miracle that you are. That you are loved beyond word or explanation. Always know that your mom and dad adore you and we’ll always welcome you home with open arms.
Don’t forget that you are the embodiment of love, courage, compassion, and joy. You are worthy and deserving of a peaceful, love soaked life just by your very existence. You don’t have to “earn” love, kindness, respect, or value. These things are all inherent to you by virtue of who you are.
Never be quiet. Never be small. Never let anyone speak negativity into your life. Never stop just because you’re scared. Believe in the absolute power and strength that you have to accomplish your goals and live your dreams. Always put your self love and your goodness first. Everything else will follow.
I live in infinite gratitude that God allowed me to be your mother. I’m honored to have the opportunity to raise you.
I love you.
Happy birthday.
Your mama.
