What a night in Downtown Elkton! 🚙🎶

Jeep Takeover Night brought an incredible crowd to the square, with Jeeps packed around the Historic Todd County Courthouse and plenty of people enjoying a beautiful evening downtown!

From live music by Carter Lybrand to great food, vendors, and rows of Jeeps in every direction, it was a great night to see our community come together and enjoy everything Downtown Elkton, Kentucky has to offer.

A huge thank you to everyone who brought out their Jeep, our vendors, downtown businesses, and everyone who came out and helped make Jeep Takeover Night such a success!

There’s a lot happening around Todd County TODAY, and it’s a great day to get out and support local!

📸 I’ve got NEW prints and magnets available now at Main Street Market in Guthrie! I have lots of Todd County scenes available, and they make the perfect gift for a loved one, someone who has moved away, or just a little piece of home for yourself.

🎶 Tonight in Guthrie, Guthrie Main Street is hosting its final Music in the Park of the year at Longhurst Park! The Justin Reynolds Band takes the stage at 7 PM, with food vendors and downtown restaurants open for the evening. Guthrie Main Street will also have their golf cart on display with raffle tickets available.

While you’re in Guthrie, be sure to stop by Main Street Market and check out my prints and magnets in person!

🚙 Over in Elkton, Jeep Takeover Night kicks off at 6 PM tonight on the Historic Public Square! There will be live music by Carter Lybrand, food, drinks, vendors, and plenty of Jeeps taking over downtown.

There are more of my prints setup in the window beside L&R Soda Shop in Elkton!

🍂 And looking ahead to HarvestFest — I’ll be set up on the Historic Public Square in Elkton on Saturday, September 26 from 9 AM–3 PM selling prints and magnets! Come by and check out some of my favorite photographs from across Todd County.

A Kentucky tradition that has survived for generations is slowly disappearing.

Dark-fired to***co has been part of the history of Guthrie and the surrounding Black Patch for well over a century. The crop even played a central role in the To***co Wars of the early 1900s, when local farmers organized against powerful to***co companies in a fight over prices and control of their crop.

Today, fewer and fewer farmers continue to grow it.

Brandi Winn Powell and Dalton Powell, along with Brandi’s father, Henry Winn, were gracious enough to let me spend some time with them and their crew to document a to***co harvest from the field to the barn.

This short film follows the process of cutting, spiking, hanging and eventually firing dark to***co. But more than anything, it shows the hard work behind it. From long days in the field to filling the barn stick by stick, it takes a dedicated team and a tremendous amount of hands-on labor to bring in a crop like this.

Three minutes doesn’t come close to showing everything that goes into raising dark-fired to***co, but I hope it captures a small piece of the people, hard work and tradition that have helped shape this part of Kentucky for generations.
