I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that yesterday was my first visit to Granite Basin, up above the Perseverance Trail. I _thought_ I had been there before, but I had actually just been to the end of Gold Creek. I had mistakenly done this multiple times, until yesterday when I managed to actually look at the trail sign! At first, I was regretting the decision because I was quickly in a salmonberry thicket with no views at all. But that didn’t last long. Soon, I popped out of that and into the basin, which is stunningly beautiful—especially on a bluebird day like we had yesterday. Surprisingly, it didn’t take me that long from the trailhead to get up into the subalpine meadows that are so beautiful. Here are a few aerials that I shot from the drone. On one shot, you can see the steep trail that connects the Juneau Ridge to the Granite Creek Basin—quite an interesting perspective for those of you that have done it.
