Another dewy rose!

I had to crouch down to obtain this angle but I think it was worth it! The blooming rose in front of the burning bush made for a nice color combo!

The crimson of a burning bush (Euonymus alatus) is an unmistakeable and integral part of the fall foliage palette! I found this one in Zion today.

I think fall foliage is very close to peak in Lake county. This glorious Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) couldn’t be any more colorful!

Roses are exploding with blooms in our garden today! Here’s one I found especially lovely!

It’s always flattering when I see one of my pics on social media! I snapped this iPhone shot as we were walking in to one of our favorite restaurants Destino Ristorante in Gurnee. The sky was lovely and the lighting was ideal. Oh. The food was outstanding too!

🌅 Thinking about your evening plans? We know just the place.

Make Destino your dinner destination tonight. 🇮🇹❤️

Come for dinner, stay for the music, and settle in for an evening with us as the Dolce Duo sets the mood from 5–8 PM.🎶

Good food, a glass of w**e, live music… sounds like a pretty great Tuesday to us. 🍷

We’ll see you at Destino.

Here’s tonight’s waxing gibbous moon. I edit most of my lunar photography using what’s commonly called “mineral processing.” There are minerals on the moon that have color but they are very subtle and because the moon appears so bright, our eyes and more or less blinded to them. Until editing software comes to the rescue to bring those blues (titanium) and browns (iron) out.

When Marilee was younger she was an avid and accomplished BMX rider. This track in Waukegan Waukegan Bmx is where she rode every week. We revisited that track for some portraits last month and this is one of my favorites. I wanted that strong shadow to add interest to the image. Because of the backlighting I relied on post processing in Lightroom to punch some light into Marilee’s face. Her stance and framing elevate her power in this scene.

Sometimes photographers who specialize in botanical subjects will spray mist on the plant to add interest. In this case, Mother Nature is taking care of that herself in our garden. I’m not sure how much longer the roses will be blooming but they look lovely this morning!

Asclepias syriaca or Common Milkweed is a preferred host plant and source of nectar for Monarch Butterflies. These silk-tufted seeds will hopefully grow into more plants which, in turn, help the Monarch population grow.
