Some days it's easy to see why pelicans are often called living dinosaurs.
With their oversized bills, piercing eyes, and prehistoric profile, they look like something that should have disappeared millions of years ago. Then they launch into the air, circle above the waves, and dive-bomb into the water over and over again in search of their next meal.
Watching them hunt never gets old.

A new camera may have followed me home this week. 📷😊
As with any new piece of gear, there's a learning curve. There were plenty of missed shots, a few surprises, and more than one moment of wondering what all those buttons do.
But there were also mornings like this one.
I've been sorting through my first images and adding new photographs to my gallery, including several Gulf Coast pelicans that quickly became favorites. The gallery is always growing as I explore, learn, and capture new moments along the coast.
