Hi Everyone!
Itās been a while, letās talk about it.
I had to take a break last year, I was still photographing weddings, I just had to take a major step back.
My dog was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) early last year. She had to go through an intense surgery, chemo treatments, and so many vet & herbalist visits. Honestly she required full time care.
While this was going on, I was going through burn out. I became Aryaās full time care giver, and photographing when I had the energy.
Arya passed away August 24th, 2024. Loosing her is one of the hardest things Iāve had to go through.
Less than one month later, a series of hurricanes came through my town and absolutely destroyed the waterfront district along with so many other parts of Florida, and the Appalachian region. I was lucky enough only have minimal damage. But I know so many people who lost everything. In some ways I donāt feel like I even have the right to talk about my feelings on the hurricanes because my home is fine. But it felt like loosing my best friend and our favorite memories in the span of a month.
These photos are a combination of my favorite memories pre & post hurricanes and loosing Arya.
It didnāt feel authentic to just go back to posting my photography without acknowledging my break and my real life. Iāve truly missed this community and my work so much, but it was so needed to take a step back.
