A little reminder from the person behind the camera. ❤️
Lacey Marie Photography is a human, not a machine!
When you message my business, the person answering you is also the person photographing your family, editing your gallery, answering emails, creating timelines, managing bookings, delivering galleries, running the business behind the scenes… and raising a family of my own.
So sometimes, I simply cannot respond immediately. I promise I am not ignoring anyone. I answer messages as I am able, while also trying to give every gallery and every client the attention they deserve.
This year alone, I have already photographed and worked with around 125 clients. I am incredibly grateful for that, but I also think it’s important to talk about what that workload looks like, especially during peak season.
My work has always leaned heavily toward Fine Art Photographer. I don't believe in rushing through a gallery just to mark it finished. Every image is individually worked on and given the time and attention that goes along with the style of photography you hired me for. I don't use presets! I hand-edit each image and spend roughly 7-10 mins per image to make sure it is the quality I always promise to deliver.
During peak season, my typical turnaround for family and portrait galleries can be 5–6 weeks. Wedding galleries may take up to 3 months, as outlined in my wedding contract. Please have some grace if I fall behind just a tad. I am only human. I get sick, my kids get sick, I go on vacation and do have a life outside of my passion.
These timelines exist because this work takes time, and because photographers are human beings, not machines.
And sometimes, even with the best planning, life happens. A photographer may run a little behind. A response may take longer than expected. That doesn't mean your photographs have been forgotten or that your photographer doesn't care.
This really isn't just about me, either. It's a reminder to extend a little grace to all photographers and small-business owners during their busiest seasons. Most of us care tremendously about the people we photograph and the work we put our names on. We are often working far more hours behind the scenes than anyone ever sees.
I will always do my best to communicate, meet my turnaround times, and give my clients beautiful work that I am proud to deliver. But I am also human, a mom, and one person running an entire business.
Kindness and respect go such a long way. ❤️
To the overwhelming majority of my clients who have been patient, kind, supportive, and have trusted my process over the years, THANK YOU! You are the reason I get to continue doing something I truly love.
Beautiful work is worth taking the time to do it right. 📷❤️
